Dumas is the contractor of choice for the most technically challenging underground projects, including mine construction, full-scale mine development, production mining, mine services and engineering.
The Group Finance Manager will support management with regards to financial accounting by providing and maintaining reliable and timely accounting information and analysis to support and recommend actions.
Will also provide leadership and coordination of company financial reporting and ensures company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles.  Together with the Senior VP, Finance, will define and develop the company’s overall financial strategy which will support the strategic agenda.   The Finance Manager will manage all general accounting functions, financial reporting, transactional accounting, and financial systems.  This will be a key role in tax planning and reporting and compliance as well as assisting in cash and treasury functions. 
 
As an integral part of the Dumas Finance team will support and actively contribute to the profitability and strategic direction of the company.   The Group Finance Manager provides leadership to position the company at the forefront of the mining industry.   You will work strategically to advance the company’s mission and objectives and to promote safety, customer satisfaction, revenue, profitability and growth as an organization while overseeing company operations to ensure production efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the strategy and business development activities pertaining to new ventures.
  • Drive clear reporting and communication in the organization. Advice on the establishment and on-going review of all financial and accounting reporting processes and procedures; ensure adequate education and awareness of these is prevalent in the organization to ensure the base reporting data is reliable, in particular for project tracking, capex and inventory management.
  • Develop a robust forecasting process and establish strong cash awareness throughout the organisation.
  • Develop and prepare business useful reports that summarize and forecast business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses (including job costing), and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
  • Lead and drive a continuous improvement mindset for financial processes, systems and reporting and reduce cycle times in invoice to cash and month-end close.
  • Mentor and lead the accounting team through coaching, and development to foster a strong team and “team player” mentality and inspire others to develop themselves to achieve high performance.
  • Ensure the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of all management and financial reporting. Assume accountability for managing all aspects of reporting required by Dumas management and the STRACON group, financial reporting, appropriate billing and revenue accrual and inventory in a timely and accurate manner.

Requirements:

  • A professional accounting designation is required, with strong IFRS knowledge.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or any science or business-related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ post qualification experience in the finance area, preferably with mining or construction related industries.
  • Prior experience in a corporate financial management role of a Canadian public company preferred or audit experience with Canadian public companies.
  • Demonstrable ability to effectively and diplomatically persuade and organize personnel from disparate functions across the company.
  • Knowledge of contracting, negotiating and change management an advantage.
  • Must possess a strong understanding and practical use of Excel, including pivot tables, and able to demonstrate good financial modeling ability.
  • The successful candidate will be self-directed and have the ability to use judgment when setting priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • He or she will possess and be able to demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills.
  • He or she will possess and be able to demonstrate excellent analytical skills and numerical ability.
  • Fluent English and strong Spanish language skills, both written and spoken required.
