Position Description 

As a surveyor, you will collaborate with a team of project managers and civil leads to provide topographic mapping, boundary surveys, and other survey-related work. The survey team is involved in a variety of projects, which require the creation and completion of subdivision plats, amended plats, easements, certificates of survey, land title surveys, and construction staking. 
 
You will work independently from project startups through to project deliverables and may supervise the work of survey technicians, eventually leading your own team. As an experienced Surveyor, you will have the ability to collaborate with peers to achieve successful outcomes for our clients, all within a reasonable timeframe. 
 
You will be responsible for scheduling project workloads for yourself and for team members who report to you. Additionally, you will represent Cushing Terrell during project meetings and participate in internal strategy and business development efforts. Another key responsibility will be to conduct quality assurance checks and provide feedback on all aspects of the surveying process and workflow.

Position Salary Range*

The expected salary range for this position is $63,000 to $85,000 annually.

Required Qualifications** 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 8+ years job job-related experience
  • Professional Surveyor License
  • Driver’s license (Real ID)
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, ArcGIS, Bluebeam, Outlook, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong knowledge in the use of survey field equipment including robotic total stations, laser scanners and GNSS systems
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction, map making, land division, titles, and construction staking
  • Ability to work independently as a lead surveyor on complex projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously

Position Responsibilities*** 

  • Work with the Senior Managing Surveyor leader to execute the company's more complex projects
  • Be responsible for providing land surveying services, analyzing and reviewing surveys, coordinating surveys, formulating and assuring the quality of surveys, and securing and managing survey data
  • Provide construction stakeout services for site and building construction
  • Be responsible for reviewing title reports as required for preparing ALTA surveys
  • Review, verify, and approve survey computations for technical accuracy and quality control
  • Prepare and/or review proposals, budgets, and invoices
  • Assess project requirements, while developing and recommending a sound approach or application to meet the needs of the project manager and client
  • Carry out complex drafting, providing training to field survey crews and coordinating the operation and maintenance of survey equipment with the team
  • Prepare project plans, elevations, and specifications using Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office.
    Meet with the client to determine needs, wants, and budget
  • Prepare preliminary budget and/or cost estimate for projects
  • Develop positive external and internal client relationships
  • Prepare survey calculations and reports

*Actual pay will be determined based on the candidate’s years of experience, licensure status, location, level of proficiency, and other job-related factors (as permitted by law). This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
