Job Description
CSCI is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our client’s Engineering Support Services program in Springfield, VA. This is a hybrid role, with in-office reporting once a week and occasional travel both within the continental U.S. (CONUS) and overseas (OCONUS). The Senior Network Engineer will provide critical engineering support to a large-scale network infrastructure, ensuring optimal operation of LAN and WAN systems across a complex, multi-site environment.
 
Responsibilities 
 
  • Network Design & Engineering: Provide subject matter expertise in the engineering, design, and maintenance of a corporate, campus-wide CISCO LAN plant featuring Gigabit switching and routing to both internal and external networks.
  • Enterprise Network Solutions: Support the design, implementation, and ongoing optimization of enterprise network solutions across multiple sites (over 200 locations).
  • Technology Refresh Support: Play an active role in the planning, design, and deployment of technology refreshes for the enterprise network.
  • Laboratory Assessments: Conduct lab assessments for both classified and unclassified DISN Services, ensuring proper connectivity and interoperability between WAN, IOEE/IOSEE, and DISA's NOCs (Network Operation Centers).
  • Interoperability & Connectivity: Ensure the seamless interoperability of WAN, IOEE/IOSEE, and DISN network equipment and services.
  • Implementation & Task Management: Plan, track, and document implementation tasks, ensuring the successful deployment of network solutions.
  • Configuration & Documentation: Create and maintain configuration artifacts such as network maps, detailed designs, test plans, operations readiness test reports, device configurations, and maintenance procedures.
  • Project & Incident Management: Monitor the completion of assigned tasks, projects, work orders, and incidents to ensure timely resolution.
  • Specification Development: Develop technical specifications for simple to moderately complex network problems and solutions.
Minimum Requirements 
 
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in LAN/WAN engineering support, Network Administration, and WAN Administration within both classified and unclassified environments.
  • Expertise in LAN/WAN protocols such as BGP, MPLS, and LDP, with experience in a service provider environment.
  • Solid background in network design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting in a multi-vendor environment.
  • Proficiency in device configuration for both wired and wireless technologies, as well as voice and video technologies.
  • Active Secret clearance with SSBI or Top-Secret clearance.
  • Valid U.S. Passport for potential OCONUS travel.
  • DoD 8570 Baseline Certification (Category IAT Level III), such as CASP+, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH, CCSP.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional-Enterprise (CCNP-E) certification or equivalent.
Preferred Skills 
 
  • Expertise in 10 Gigabit Ethernet LAN technologies and associated software and hardware equipment.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple assigned projects and report on status and implementation plans.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Preferred certifications: AWS Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, CompTIA Cloud+, Check Point Certified Security Expert (CCSE).
  • Ability to obtain Check Point Certified Security Administrator (CCSA) or higher certification.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as independently when required.
  • Proven ability to maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Adherence to data standards and policies, ensuring compliance with security and operational best practices.
  • Motivated to learn and adopt new technologies and methodologies to continuously improve network performance and system efficiencies.
