Job Description 
 
CSCI Consulting is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Analyst with expertise in federal financial statement audits to support a Department of Defense (DoD) client. The ideal candidate will be an auditor, financial management professional, or financial consultant capable of applying technical knowledge and skills to support Federal General Fund (GF) or Working Capital Fund (WCF) financial statement audits. The Senior Analyst will lead data analysis efforts, contribute to audit readiness and remediation initiatives, and provide strategic insights to ensure compliance with federal auditing standards.
 
Responsibilities 
 
  • Research and Analysis: Execute day-to-day research, financial analysis, and reporting activities to support audit readiness and remediation efforts under the guidance of the team lead.
  • Data Analysis: Utilize data analysis technology and tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, ACL, Python) to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and support audit findings.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Draft and update key communication artifacts, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Desktop Guides, whitepapers, and other audit-related documentation.
  • Customer Interaction: Demonstrate strong customer service skills by addressing client inquiries, collaborating with stakeholders, and managing relationships with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Team Leadership: Provide oversight and guidance to junior Analysts, reviewing their work and ensuring accuracy and alignment with audit objectives.
  • Project Management: Track the progress of project tasks, communicating status updates and potential challenges to the team lead and stakeholders.
  • Audit Support: Provide support for financial statement audits, remediation actions, and audit readiness tasks related to Federal GF and WCF funds.
Minimum Requirements 
 
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • One of the following professional certifications: CPA, CISA, CIA, CGFM, or CDFM.
  • 3.5+ years of relevant experience in DoD financial statement auditing, audit remediation, or audit readiness.
  • Strong understanding of federal/DoD financial statement auditing processes and audit readiness methodologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and documentation.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with customers and vendors.
Preferred Skills 
 
  • Location: Candidates based in the National Capital Region (NCR) are preferred.
  • Experience working with DoD or Federal Government clients, particularly in financial auditing, remediation, or readiness efforts.
  • Hands-on experience with Fund Balance with Treasury (FBWT) reconciliation processes.
  • Experience using DoD’s Advanced Analytics (Advana) platform for financial data analysis.
  • Ability to independently research and reconcile variances in financial data.
  • Familiarity with applying FASAB, OMB, and Treasury regulations, including OMB Circular A-136 and the Treasury Financial Manual (TFM).
  • Knowledge of DFAS reporting policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and advanced data manipulation/analysis techniques.
  • Experience with SharePoint, SQL, ACL, Analytics, Python, and Microsoft Access databases.
  • Strong desire to continuously learn new technologies and methodologies to enhance audit processes and improve efficiency.
