As the Category Lead, Marketing, you will be responsible for Category Strategy and Strategic Sourcing for categories assigned. You will develop long-term business strategies aligned with key stakeholders and will also be accountable for market research, developing the supplier base, managing critical supplier agreements, and supplier relationship management. This role will report to the Manager, Strategic Sourcing Indirect. The ideal candidate is energetic, collaborative, and forward- thinking.

This position is based out of Toronto, ON.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Manage categories of intermediate to high complexity using strategic sourcing principles Categories include but are not limited to media, design agencies, creative agencies, experiential marketing, shopper marketing, consumer events and promotions, digital marketing, consumer insights, market research, pre-press services, branded merchandise, and print
  • Pilot the development, execution, and implementation of Category Strategy for assigned categories to drive value creation across spend categories
  • Grow the process to develop supplier base Manage suppliers, including scorecarding, leading negotiations, contract management, conducting Quarterly Business Reviews, and actively monitoring performance improvement metrics/KPI’s/SLA’s
  • Manage savings and performance targets
  • Responsible for assessing and managing category risks and opportunities
  • Guide and collaborate with key stakeholders Must be able to business partner with senior level internal stakeholders aligning on company priorities and needs Must also build relationships at lower levels of the organization
You’ll need to have:
  • Education: University degree or College diploma preferred; however, combination of related procurement training and 5-10 years relevant work experience may be considered an equivalent
  • Designations: Certified professional procurement designation or equivalent preferred
  • Effective project management skills
  • A skilled communicator who influences and negotiates with great latitude on outcomes, often at a high level
  • Exceptional written and presentation skillsExperience with strategic sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiations and contract management
  • Broad based experience in multinational category management
  • Demonstrate effective analysis of data and conduct market research to determine relevant insights & actions
  • Proven track record of tackling complex problems, often mobilizing resources from other functional groups
  • Experienced in appropriate business decisions while managing risks and pressures
  • Collaborated with internal business partners and suppliers to implement innovative solutions
  • Subject matter expert who shares procurement/supply chain knowledge to ensure awareness throughout the company
  • Sound commercial awareness and a comprehensive understanding of how the function contributes to business objectives, along with comprehensive industry knowledge
  • SAP experience
  • Position located in Toronto; however, travel will be required
