Position Overview
 
Cronos Group and Cronos Israel are looking for a part-time in-house Legal Counsel (Israel). This position is 3 days per week. 
This role involves managing legal matters for Cronos Group's operations in Israel, working within the Legal Department and reporting to the Deputy General Counsel.
The Legal Counsel will also report dotted line to SVP, Head of Cronos Israel.
Key responsibilities include providing legal services and counsel to management, advising on corporate, commercial, and transaction-related matters, and identifying and addressing legal issues outside core competencies by seeking advice from internal and external specialists.
Essential duties
  • Advise on legal matters and manage projects related to the cannabis cultivation, manufacturing, and distribution business, as well as cannabis R&D, in collaboration with Cronos stakeholders.
  • Analyze laws and regulations related to the distribution and sale of medical cannabis and cannabis R&D in Israel.
  • Draft, negotiate, and execute corporate and commercial agreements, including purchase, supply, distribution, and licensing agreements.
  • Support brand development by reviewing sales and marketing materials in collaboration with Regulatory Affairs.
  • Adapt to the changing needs of the business and manage legal projects at all stages of product development, from R&D to distribution, marketing, and sales.
  • Handle corporate matters, including preparing and maintaining minute books and ensuring up-to-date corporate filings in consultation with the Corporate Secretary.
  • Instruct and manage the use of outside legal counsel judiciously.
  • Ensure frequent and regular information flow to the global Legal Department, working closely with internal legal and regulatory specialists, and escalate issues to the Deputy General Counsel when appropriate.
  • Responsible for tracking reporting by other Israeli companies.
Qualifications and Education
  • 4-8 years of experience in-house and/or at a law firm in the general corporate/commercial area.
  • JD/LLB and admission to the Bar of Israel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Hebrew, native English communication is a plus.
  • Strong integrity and character.
  • Confidence to use independent discretion on significant cross-functional matters, with strong judgment to escalate issues when necessary.
  • Team-player mentality with a willingness to work as part of a global legal department and collaborate with internal and external legal and regulatory specialists outside Israel.
  • Ability to allocate time effectively and triage issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to educate and advise business leads on key legal issues while collaborating as part of a team.
  • Strong drafting and interpretation skills.
  • Good organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multitask, work on short deadlines, and meet tight timelines.
  • Problem-solving skills and commercial awareness.
  • Willingness to take responsibility and ownership of work.
  • Must be willing to work part-time.
