The Materials Planner will be responsible for translating the supply plan into an effective material requirement plan to deliver targeted customer service and inventory levels. The Planner will ensure an acceptable level of material available to support the master production schedule and ensure the successful launch of new products. The ideal candidate is energetic, collaborative, and forward- thinking.
This role will be located onsite in Stayner, ON.
What you’ll be doing:
- Develop and maintain an accurate and efficient materials planning process to support production schedules and operational requirements
- Analyze demand forecasts, production plans, and inventory levels to determine optimal inventory targets and reorder points
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Production, Procurement, Warehousing, and Inventory Control, to gather information and align material requirements with production schedules
- Create and maintain materials planning schedules, including purchase orders, delivery schedules, and production plans
- Monitor and track supplier performance, including on-time delivery, quality, and cost, and take necessary actions to address any issues or concerns
- Work with Inventory Control to conduct regular inventory audits to reconcile physical stock levels with system records and identify and address any discrepancies
- Utilize SAP to maintain accurate inventory records, generate reports, and analyze data for process improvements
- Purchase Order maintenance within SAP
- Manage material plans to support the timely launch of new products and phase-out products, communicate discontinued items and get BOM corrected with the new material, ensure old material is depleted before starting to use new material
- Periodically review inventory planning target to align with demand fluctuations
- Manage reduction and prevention of slow and obsolete stock (raw/packaging), create reports for aging and excess inventory and work with cross functional teams to follow up the plan for destruction or subbing
- Stay updated with industry trends, market conditions, and new materials to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement in materials planning processes.
You’ll need to have:
- Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration or relevant field.
- 3-5 years’ experience as a Materials Planner or in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment
- Experience using SAP, ERP/MRP software, Excel, outlook, PowerPoint
- Adept knowledge of materials planning principles, inventory control techniques, and supply chain management concepts
- Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external suppliers
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to details
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is an asset
