Position Description
The Payment Operations Manager will ensure our CivicPlus’ embedded payment solution operates efficiently and effectively. Working closely with our PayFac as a Service (PFaaS) provider, this role will oversee our responsibilities in underwriting, boarding, risk management, and ongoing backend operations. Responsible for both execution and continuous improvement of the above processes, this role will deliver a seamless experience that ensures customers can take a payment anytime, anywhere.
As a Payments Operations Manager you will:
Underwriting and Boarding
- Ensure all required information and applicable files are collected and submitted for merchant underwriting
- Monitor and notify appropriate parties of progress and work collaboratively to rapidly resolve any underwriting issues preventing approval
- Configure internal systems to activate processing capabilities upon approval, with understanding of impacts on downstream customer experiences such as reconciliation and device management
Risk
- Perform additional research and risk investigation accounts or transactions flagged for review by our PFaaS partner
- Monitor and manage disputes across the portfolio by owning the procedures that define how we support our customers throughout this process
- Manage all account changes after a customer goes live, such as handling B Notices or validating bank accounts for DDA changes
General Operations
- Function as a primary point of contact with our PFaaS provider for escalations related to duties defined above and those of our Payment Support team
- Manage projects and establish documentation for repeatable procedures, such as payment account imports/transfers and portfolio migrations
- Use your payment subject matter expertise to educate customers and colleagues on payment industry, best practices, and our solution(s)
- Recommend procedure and technology updates to improve our efficiency, customer experience, and keep pace as our solutions and industry evolve
- Other related duties, as assigned
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelors Degree with a concentration in finance, accounting, economics, business, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in Payments Industry, preferably with a Processor, PayFac, or software company using PFaaS
- Demonstrable knowledge of Payment Underwriting, Risk and Compliance disciplines
- High level understanding of card brand and NACHA rules and regulations
- Capable of managing projects of various size, leveraging strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong desire to learn, with a sense of curiosity and eye for detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel
Compensation and Benefits:
- Estimated Salary Grade Range: $80,200 – 117,100
- The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and is based on a 40-hour work week.
