Position Overview:

The Downtown Core temporary labourer will be part of a highly visible operational team in Downtown Kitchener throughout the winter term.  You will have frequent interaction with the public, business owners and the downtown community while performing daily routine operational tasks and duties.  The position will also provide operational support to seasonal events and winter maintenance of target core areas and amenities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational support to set up/takedown of seasonal events throughout the winter.
  • Collect waste and empty waste receptacles.
  • Pick litter and collect and remove sharps.
  • Assist with the removal of graffiti.
  • Assist with the setup/takedown of outdoor furniture.
  • Perform inspections and carry out maintenance of Downtown Core infrastructure.
  • Perform winter maintenance of specific Downtown core areas and amenities as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma.
  • Valid MTO class G driver’s license in good standing.
  • Able to perform a variety of duties including manual labour.
  • Flexible to work varying shifts, rotational duties, weekends and overtime as required.
  • Ability to participate as an effective team member.
  • Must have demonstrated communication/customer service skills and successfully pass applicable testing with an ability to keep accurate written records.
  • Be prepared to be trained in the operation of all related equipment and work skills.
  • Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
