Salary:$62,228 - $77,784 annually, effective Nov 1, 2024: $63,682 - $79,602

Hours of Work:35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Who we are looking for:

As a Compensation Analyst, you’ll play a crucial role within our compensation team. Reporting to the Manager, Total Compensation, your responsibilities will include administering job evaluations to ensure pay equity compliance, maintaining job descriptions, managing staffing requests, overseeing records management, and preparing research and data.

 

What you will work on:

Job Evaluation Administration

  • Administer job evaluation systems for all employee groups including tracking, recording, facilitation, and documenting of rating and appeal committee meetings.
  • Facilitate job evaluation rating meetings including preparing evaluation documents, information packages, agenda packages, minutes, and benchmarking documentation.
  • Develop job evaluation orientation and instructional tools including developing and delivering training programs for job evaluation committees.
  • Review new and changed jobs and recommend interim salary grades/bands with guidance and oversight from the Senior Compensation Analyst.
  • Ensure compliance with Pay Equity Act in collaboration with the compensation team.

 

Job Description Maintenance

  • Write new and update existing job descriptions for all City of Kitchener positions, ensuring consistency and uniformity of writing style.
  • Monitor progress, approval, and final processing of job descriptions and maintain and update tracking database.

Staffing Requests

  • Review requests to hire for accuracy of job code, reporting line, grade, start date, vacancies, gapping, etc.
  • Update and maintain staffing request list.

Records Management

  • Create and maintain organizational charts and provide customized organizational charts as required.
  • Update intranet content related to compensation, e.g. job descriptions job evaluations, etc.
  • Maintain paper and electronic files with regards to job evaluation, job descriptions, staffing requests, forms, etc.
  • Create and maintain job records in Human Resources Information System (HRIS).

Research and Data Preparation

  • Provide research and create documents related to full-time equivalents (FTEs), job evaluation, and job descriptions.

What you will bring:

You have a solid understanding of the Pay Equity Act, Human Resources practices and the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Your experience encompasses job analysis, job evaluation, and compensation administration principles. You possess well-developed oral and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills, enabling you to maintain effective relations with both internal and external partners. Additionally, you have strong facilitation skills.

You are skilled in analyzing and evaluating job content and writing accurate job descriptions. You demonstrate excellent time management skills, allowing you to prioritize your workload and meet multiple deadlines efficiently. You handle confidential information with the utmost discretion and tact, ensuring sensitive situations are managed appropriately.

Your advanced computer skills include proficiency in software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, and human resources information systems.

What we require

  • Minimum 3-year degree/diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with job evaluation, pay equity or HR administration.
  • Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
