Position Summary & Responsibilities:

This co-op/internship is anticipated to run 6 months, likely from May - December 2025, working an average of 40 hours/week over the summer and 20-40 hours/week during the semester onsite at our Salt Lake City facility. Relocation assistance is not available. 

As a Privacy team member in bioMerieux Data Privacy team, you will gain first-hand experience contributing to a global data privacy program and working with the North America DPO. Learn how to interpret and apply external applicable standards in a International company as bioMerieux in diagnostics in vitro industry. your role will be focused on helping clients operationalize privacy programs by conducting privacy assessments and implementing privacy technology platforms and solutions for consumer requests, personal data inventories, consent collection and notification, and third-party privacy reviews. This position is a 6 months paid internship located in Salt Lake City, UTAH. It is offered for a period extending from mid-May through mid-October (exact dates depend on school calendars.)

  • Act as a support between the Group Data Protection Manager and local managers in the regions (North America, Asia Pacific, Africa, Latin America),
  • Support the updating of documentation in the data protection compliance tool for the NORAM region as a priority,
  • Monitor action plans for impact analyses on the protection of personal data,
  • Analyze the different regulations in the US and Canada and its potential implementation in the compliance tool,
  • Lead the network of business data representatives in NORAM involved in data protection in order to discuss topics related to data protection.
  • Assist with the processes for responding to data subjects privacy requests
  • Assist with drafting policies, processes, and other documentation (e.g., checklists, guidelines, FAQs) to comply with relevant privacy regulations and frameworks and according to operational needs.
  • Assist with documentation and review of privacy related third-party relationships and data flows.
  • Collaborate with legal and procurement team to check critical vendors compliance

Education, Skills, & Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED is required and must be actively enrolled in an academic program/institution pursuing a degree. Currently pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or JD
    • Law, Information Security, Computer Science, Data Privacy, or related field. Legal or Data Privacy majors are preferred but not required
    • Experience with OneTrust or equivalent, previous internship experience in Data Privacy or Legal is a plus 
  • You have a strong sensitivity to topics related to data protection and compliance with legislation.
  • You have a good knowledge of the legislation on the protection of personal data (CCPA/GDPR PIPEDA, LAW 25 in Canada) and local legislation on the subject.
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to utilize both technical and interpersonal skills to assist internal stakeholders from various departments,
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to train people
