Position Summary:

The Data Solutions Expert (DSE) satisfies delivery requests from the business according to the IS Delivery Model, the IS Charter, and feedback from the Project/Portfolio Manager or Coordinator. DSEs use technical expertise to scope the request and collaborate with the project team to deliver the solution.  DSEs efficiently utilize data mining techniques e.g. ELT/ETL to develop the reporting/visualization solution. DSEs test the solution to ensure appropriate functionality and integrity. DSEs deploy with considerations to run support and sustainment. DSEs manages development efforts using analytical thinking, organization, and effective communication. The DSE understands ERP, CRM, and other business applications and their relationship.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, deployment, and run support of data platform applications and solutions for bioMerieux. 
  • Effectively communicate with the business regarding project scope, budget, planning and timeline, required resources, risks, coordination, and governance (follow the IS Delivery Model).  
  • Lead the development of data solutions including the design, build, management, maintenance, and optimization of a data warehouse.
  • Performs with little management guidance.
  • Can work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Provide value to the organization through complex data engineering, analysis, modeling, visualization, and communication.
  • Develops complex forecasts, recommendations, and strategic/tactical plans based on business and market data.
  • Interact with leadership to present data that will impact the business. 
  • Participate in collaboration efforts with global data development teams (e.g. bioMerieux France, Cognizant development team in India).
  • Write documentation for analysis methods, specifications and reports. Documents typically describe models, data analysis and algorithms. The content of the documentation should be adjusted to match audience.
  • Must be familiar with a variety data engineering and data solutions concepts, practices, and procedures and follow standard operating protocols. 
  • Provide data application/software utility training to internal subject matter experts.
  • Collaborate with internal data teams and subject matter experts to ensure the accuracy and validity of deliverables.
  • Work as part of a team. 
  • Prioritize and complete data requests on time with an emphasis on quality and accuracy.
  • Continually update technical knowledge and skills.
  • Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of bioMerieux’s Quality System.
  • Understand bioMerieux’s technical and scientific mission.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Skills, & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Business Analyst, or Data Analysis. Degree in Computer Science, IS, or IT preferred.
    • In lieu of a degree, High School Diploma/GED with 7+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Business Analyst, or Data Analysis also accepted
  • Experience with Snowflake, AWS, SAP Hana, or MS Azure highly preferred.
  • Experience in visualization tools: Power BI, Tableau, or DOMO highly preferred.
  • Experience in the following areas desired:
    • ERP (SAP ECC) and CRM (SalesForce) systems data infrastructure and how it relates to transformation requirements (data warehouse) for analysis.
    • Excel
    • SQL (MS SQL/TSQL, MySQL, and/or Amazon Redshift SQL)
    • Business analytics software like Tableau, Tableau Cloud , SAP Analytics Cloud, etc.
    • Experience with one of the following programming/analytical languages: R, Python, C#, Java, JavaScript, DBT, and D3.JS.
