Position Summary:
Ainsworth Northern Ontario is currently looking for a communication technician to join our team, The role will be responsible for assembling, installing, and repairing, and maintaining telecommunication structured cabling systems, campus cabling, cabling for wireless access points. Structured cabling will consist of cabling for commercial buildings, industrial applications and temporary facilities.
Responsibilities
- Read, interpret and maintain drawings and specifications.
- Install structured cable components. (Cat 5E, Cat 6, Cat 6A, Fiber Optic)
- Installation and testing of communication circuits via available communications cabling network.
- Service, maintenance and troubleshooting on commercial and/or industrial communication circuits and/or
- cabling networks.
- Repair, replace faulty components if necessary
- Repair and adjust valves, piping connections, fittings, and couplings.
- Able to read and interpret telecommunication drawings and specification
- Represent the company face to face with the customer directly requesting the work when needed.
- Good customer service skills.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1-year experience pulling, terminating, and testing cat5/6 cables
- Valid Ontario “G” driver’s license with clear driver’s abstract.
- Professional, trustworthy, and reliable with a strong attention to detail.
- Flexible to work various shifts including days, evenings, and weekends, if needed
- Available to work 40 hours per week, with the potential for overtime hours, if needed
- Ability to lift 50lbs and carry, climb and work from a ladder
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals and to handle calmly and efficiently situations ranging from routine to emergency.
- Ability to work both independently.
- Must be bondable and able to pass a background check
- Working at Heights and Fall Arrest Certification is an asset
