Payroll Coordinator

Position at Absolute Software

With Absolute’s recent acquisition of NetMotion Software, we are looking to grow our payroll function by adding a new Payroll Coordinator. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our Payroll team of 2. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and be highly analytical with strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Payroll team in processing semi-monthly/monthly payroll, ensuring all deadlines are met, including preparing payroll input, and ensuring accuracy, authorization, and compliance
  • Support the Payroll team in reconciliation of all government remittances and year-end filings including T4, WCB, EHT, W2, ACA and 401K
  • Initiate payroll wire requests for payroll funding/taxes
  • Engage with employees to respond to their queries and external agencies on matters relating to payroll, in a timely manner
  • Investigate payroll issues, identifying causes, and formulating recommendations for resolution
  • Issue Records of Employment; and complete Service Canada requests for Payroll information
  • Provide payroll support/reporting to qualified internal/external stakeholders
  • Work closely with Human Resources team to ensure timely and accurate data transition to payroll
  • Add value by bringing innovative thinking and automation to enhance processes
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy of information and reconciliation of data across systems
  • Other ad-hoc analysis as required from time to time

What You’ll Need:

  • 1-3 years experience working in a payroll related position
  • Working knowledge of Canadian and US payroll rules/legislation and employment legislation preferred
  • Working knowledge of practices and procedures related to payroll
  • Working towards PCP payroll designation or US FPC/CPP designation is strongly preferred
  • Experience working with ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred
  • Intermediate skills in Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, organized, and self motivated with the ability to prioritize workload
  • Resourceful and proactive in finding solutions and driving continuous improvement and efficiencies
  • Ability to work in a team environment and foster effective working relationships with managers, employees, vendor providers and other external and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and use discretion
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to function under pressure and meet multiple service demands
