Description

Fluidra is looking for a Contract Drafter to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. We estimate this project to last 6 months. 
  
WHAT YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE  
The ideal candidate will have a solid working knowledge of sheet metal modeling, fabrication standards, and manufacturing processes. This role will focus on creating precise, production-ready 3D models and drawings for sheet metal components and assemblies. Additionally, you will:  
  • Develop 3D models and detailed drawings of sheet metal parts and assemblies using SolidWorks Sheet Metal tools.
  • Create flat patterns and ensure the manufacturability of designs based on fabrication constraints, including bends, cutouts, forming, and tolerances.
  • Interpret engineering specifications, sketches, and customer requirements into technical CAD models.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to ensure designs are accurate and optimized for production.
  • Maintain organized design files and documentation following company standards.
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback into CAD models and drawings.
  • Generate and manage Bill of Materials (BOMs) from SolidWorks assemblies.
  • Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) as needed for precise and accurate fabrication documentation.
WHAT WE SEEK
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, with demonstrated experience in Sheet Metal design tools.
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, including bending, punching, forming, welding, and laser cutting.
  • Ability to read and create technical drawings, including dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and fabrication standards.
  • Experience with PDM systems (Aras Innovator or similar) is a plus.
  • Associate degree or higher in Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1+ years of experience in sheet metal CAD modeling preferred.
  • Knowledge of industry standards (ANSI, ISO, etc.)
  • Familiarity with metal gauge standards, material properties, and finishes.
  • Ability to proactively troubleshoot design and manufacturing issues.
EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent.
