Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Manager Finance, the Accountant role, this person is part of the extended accounting function for the US region located in Xylem India’s Vadodara plant.   S/he is responsible for managing the processing of the Journal accounting, Fixed Assets register and preparing timely reconciliations. Providing these services in an effective and efficient manner will ensure that finance reports are accurate and up to date. These functions may include accounting, financial reporting, compliance and SOX processes & procedures. S/he will also be responsible for adhering to the internal control procedures, Sox compliance and adherence to the delegation of authority matrix

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations in support of month-end closing activities for multiple business units, using BlackLine, and ensuring proper documentation is obtained
    • accruals and prepaids entries
    • fixed assets and intangibles entries
    • operating and capital lease entries
  • Reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger identifying out of balances and their causes, resolving the possibility of future issues
  • Review completed Construction in Progress packets prepared by Jr Accountant for completeness prior to submission to Fixed Asset Sr Accountant
  • Respond to inquiries regarding financial statements and general ledgers
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and analyses as requested
  • Ability to adapt and effectively interact with teams at different states and facilities
  • Assist with interim and annual audits
  • Load OneStream for multiple business units multiple times a day during close week
  • Respond to accounting inquiries from domestic and international business partners
  • Mentor Staff Accountant in all assigned accounting functions
  • Ensure all supporting documentation is in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley guidelines

Qualifications: Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:

Required Qualifications:

  • CA/Inter CA/CMA/Master’s Degree in Accounting and Finance preferably with additional professional qualifications
  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience in journal accounting
  • Experience in manufacturing preferred
  • In-depth working knowledge of the General Ledger
  • Solid working knowledge and application of US GAAP
  • Must possess strong analytical skills
  • Competency with Microsoft Office and Advanced Excel functions
  • Experience with Oracle or other ERP accounting systems and fixed asset software
  • Experience with Blackline Journal Entries and Reconciliation modules a plus
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and written
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment
