Weston Solutions has an immediate need for a leader in emerging contaminant mitigation with a focus on PFAS to join our PFAS team. The Senior Engineer will serve as a national technical and sales resource who will provide senior-level technical support to projects/proposals. You will serve as a thought leader in their area(s) of specialty through participation in internal and external organizations (i.e., ITRC, SERDP, etc.), and participating in business development opportunities by driving technical approaches and providing expert guidance. Weston has a significant backlog of work involving PFAS and other emerging contaminants (i.e., remedial investigation, feasibility studies, remediation design, interim measures, implementation of remedial actions, design-build projects, and system operations) for both private and federal sector clients. We foresee continued growth and technical advancement in this area.

As a leader within Weston, you will share your technical knowledge and view on PFAS, 1,4-dioxane, and/or other applicable subjects to our Emerging Contaminants and Remediation Communities of Practice. The successful candidate will have a successful work history of environmental investigation and remediation projects with experience working on PFAS related projects. This position requires excellent written and verbal communication, polished client presentation skills, organization of complex information, team leadership, and time management. The successful individual will be one who thrives in a team-oriented environment and is able to determine what is next. Flexibility to work on a multitude of diverse projects, a positive attitude, willingness to mentor junior staff, and commitment to workplace health and safety are imperative. Limited field work will be required including investigation support, observation of site conditions pilot startups, and oversight of subcontractors. Travel to Weston offices, client facilities, and project sites is anticipated to average 20% of your work time.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or applicable sciences. Master’s degree preferred.
• 10 years of experience in the field of remedial consulting including soil, groundwater, sediment, surface water, and vapor intrusion.
• Experience with investigation, feasibility studies, and treatment of novel contaminants required including, but not limited to, PFAS and 1,4-dioxane as well as non-emergent contaminants like chlorinated solvents, petroleum hydrocarbons, PCBs, and metals.
• Knowledge of and experience with PFAS soil and groundwater remediation technologies including site closure strategies, source control, management of migration, mitigating risk pathways, remedial design, collaborating with public stakeholders, government, and private clients.
• Working knowledge of Federal and State regulatory processes and reporting (CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, state specific cleanup programs).
• Able to analyze, interpret, and present data, and meet time sensitive deadlines.
• Assists the Project Manager in estimating and tracking project scope, cost, schedule, quality, and safety.
• Able to conduct multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
• Ability to complete field work independently without supervision.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to complete and maintain OHSA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification and 8-hour annual refresher training.
• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office software suite, personal computers, and mobile phone communications applications with an ability to collaborate using the latest communication software including Teams and SharePoint.
• Desired, but not mandatory, qualifications include:  
• Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within 1 year and active NCEES account with ability to acquire additional licenses.
• Ability to prepare design drawings, specifications, equipment, and construction requests for bids, evaluate bids, manage subcontractors, perform engineering services during construction and construction observations.
• Capable of performing and leading project and field quality control (QC) activities. Prepare daily QC reports, photo documentation, and maintain field logs.
• Experience with federal government clients including the Air Force, Navy, USACE.
• Experience presenting data and using GIS and data visualization tools.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD or similar CAD software tools for project execution.
• USACE Quality Management for Construction Projects (CQC) certification and experience working as design quality control manager and field quality control manager.
• OSHA 30-hour construction safety certification.
• Ability to develop and maintain site health and safety plans, AHAs, and JHAs.
• Active member of professional organizations suited to specific practice area.
• Ability to develop design-build-operate solutions for groundwater treatment, soil remediation, and vapor control.
• Field experience with construction, startup, operations, and operations trouble shooting.
