Project/Contract Manager
Description
Weston is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a team of personnel (On-site Weston Team) and oversee Weston contract work at the Sandia National Laboratories Radioactive and Mixed Waste Management Facility (RMWMF) in Albuquerque, NM. The right candidate will have experience in both project and personnel management, and in environmental services and/or hazardous materials management. Candidate is required to be on-site at client facility in Albuquerque, NM.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience with hazardous material projects
- Five years of personnel management experience.
- Strong competence in driving compliance with 40CFR, 49CFR, 10CFR, 29CFR requirements.
- Team builder who can effectively manage a multi-disciplined team of experts, identify team strengths, motivate team to work effectively towards a common goal, and mitigate weaknesses.
- Strong planning, time management, and organizational skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to listen to internal team as well as clients to learn and understand their needs. Serves as an advocate for team.
- Strong critical thinking and people skills – ability to listen to and motivate team to meet critical deadlines or challenges.
- Flexible and proactive – has the ability to anticipate challenges and/or changing conditions and collaborate as needed.
*Note: At the discretion of the Sandia Delegated Representative (SDR), an individual whose education, training, experience, knowledge, and skills are presented as equivalent to those listed above may be approved.
Desired, but not mandatory, qualifications include:
- Experience at a waste facility operating under a RCRA permit (or interim status) is a plus.
- Previous experience working with DOE or DOD.
- Active DOE L or Q clearance. If applicant does not possess, then ability to obtain and maintain an active Q clearance.
- HAZWOPER 40-hour training, current 8-hour refresher and 8-hour supervisory training.
- Strong knowledge of work planning and organizational skills, as applied to waste management activities and procedures.
- Working knowledge of safety requirements and procedures as applied to hazardous waste movement, processing, and storage.
Responsibilities:
- Managing the On-site Weston Team to ensure quality delivery of contract requirements.
- Creating and overseeing On-site Weston Team schedules; ensuring that Weston services and work products are high quality and delivered on schedule.
- Creating a positive work environment, fostering teamwork, providing open communication, and encouraging high quality team and client connections.
- Directly supervising the On-site Weston Team to ensure high standards of safety and compliance; ensure that On-site Weston Team members maintain proper training and qualifications for assigned positions.
- Managing the On-site Weston Team by clearly communicating expectations for project requirements, scope, schedule, and budget.
- Serving as the Point of Contact (POC) in support of contract for interactions with the SDR, Sandia staff, and other DOE stakeholders.
- Ensuring the On-site Weston Team maintains compliance with applicable permits, Federal and State regulations, DOE Orders, Sandia Health and Safety procedures, Sandia Corporate Policy, and applicable department technical work documents.
- Managing and communicating project changes with the client, the On-site Weston Team, and home office management as appropriate.
- Communicating activities and issues to the SDR (client) and other Sandia personnel, as necessary.
- Performing Quality Assurance functions, e.g. review of deliverables, work plans, procedures, training requirements, etc.
- Ensuring operations/activities are staffed appropriately.
- Supporting hiring, as needed to fill open team positions.
- Identify project risk and risk mitigation strategies.
- Oversee Radioactive Work Plan assignments.
- Resolve team conflicts with support from Weston HR and Weston home office.

Salary Range: $80,800 - $107,800 - $134,700
