The Technician III will provide routine assistance to project staff. Function is to properly collect samples, participate in field activities, analyze samples in the field or laboratory, perform calculations, organize results, keep work areas in order, and maintain equipment. When applied to research organization unit's function, can focus on data retrieval/entry, performing and checking calculations, etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs accurate laboratory analyses, field studies and scientific computations.
  • Prepares solutions and equipment needed to perform assignments. Calibrates standardize and maintain equipment.
  • Performs library research, conducts surveying and sampling.
  • Prepares graphics and calculations necessary for results in assignments.
  • Prepares, cleans, and maintains field equipment and apparatus.
  • Picks up and/or collect samples or supplies from suppliers or customers.
  • Prepares tables, charts, field data sheets, and data entry.

Requirements:

  • Highschool degree, or equivalent required.
  • A preferred candidate has at least 2 years' experience in the relevant field, below.
  • Soil and groundwater sampling.
  • Site investigations.
  • Installing and testing wells.
  • Experience in a technical or laboratory environment and familiarity with chemicals, equipment and chemical handling procedures, data processing equipment, maps and simple computations is desirable.
  • Required to be familiar with various laboratory and field measurement or sample collection equipment and instruments. Must perform preventative and basic remedial maintenance on equipment needed to perform assigned duties. Knowledge on proper use and operation of equipment must be learned with minimum training.
  • Ability to accurately follow letter and intent of established procedures and methods. Determining accuracy, precision, and quality of work.
  • Some local travel as needed.

Salary Range: $38,500 - $51,300 - $64,100
