The Chemist I provides clients with accurate and timely analytical data following established methods, analytical procedures and techniques, and proper quality control protocols. He/she prepares reagents, uses standard analytical glassware and instrumentation, calculates results, reviews work, and records data.
Location: Auburn, AL
Expected Outcomes:
- Perform analysis according to applicable Standard Operating Practices in conformance with quality control procedures of WESTON.
- Review backlog and develop work priorities.
- Maintain adequate inventory of the chemicals, glassware, equipment, and other supplies necessary for the completion of assigned analytical tests.
- Follow Health & Safety protocols and standards at all times. Report any unsafe conditions.
- Thoroughly document data generated in the performance of assigned work in the appropriate formatted data book and calculate the quality control data in order to verify that the procedure is in control.
- Perform and document initial data review. If necessary, take appropriate corrective action in conformance with direction from Section Manager or Unit Leader. Upon completion of data review, enter analytical results and quality control data into laboratory information management system.
- Perform and document preventive and routine instrument/equipment maintenance used during analysis in accordance with maintenance schedule.
- Generate/complete appropriate reporting forms and data packages in accordance with specific client requirements.
- Recommend improvements in laboratory practices and analytical system design to enhance quality and/or efficiency.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Bachelor of Science plus 0 to 2 years related experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.
Salary Range: $36,600 - $48,900 - $61,100
