Position Summary: The Gifts Officer, Major Gifts will be responsible for managing a portfolio of 75-100 donors capable of giving $10,000 or more in a given calendar year. This role focuses on developing and executing strategies to identify new prospects and to move donors through the giving pipeline while ensuring exceptional stewardship to foster long-term relationships. The Major Gifts Officer will be a key player on the Foundation’s Development team and will significantly contribute to revenue goals.
The Gifts Officer, Major Gifts will work closely with the Foundation’s Development Director on all aspects of major donor fundraising, including donor identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship, in addition to supporting the Foundation’s Grateful Patient pipeline. The Gift Officer may be asked to work some evenings and weekends, depending upon donors' wishes and Foundation priorities
- Donor Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with major donors and prospects, ensuring personalized communication and engagement strategies.
2. Fundraising Strategy: Support the Development Director in developing and implementing a comprehensive major gifts fundraising plan to meet annual revenue goals.
3. Pipeline Management: Actively move donors through the giving pipeline, identifying opportunities for increased engagement and support.
4. Stewardship: Ensure proper stewardship of all major donors, including timely acknowledgments, updates on the impact of their gifts, and invitations to Foundation and Hospital events.
5. Collaboration: Work closely with the Foundation team and Hospital leadership to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals and initiatives.
6. Research and Prospecting: Conduct research to identify new major gift prospects and assess the giving capacity of existing donors.
7. Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of donor interactions, gift agreements, and progress in the donor database.
8. Events Participation: Assist in planning and executing donor recognition events and other fundraising initiatives as needed to engage and inspire donors.
9. In addition to performing the essential functions listed below, may also be assigned other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, or a related field required
- Certified Fund Raising Executive credential preferred but not required
- Minimum of 3 years of not-for-profit fundraising and development experience, preferably in a healthcare field environment.
- 1 to 3 years’ direct work experience as a fundraising professional with a major gift portfolio required
- Proven track record of successfully securing major gifts and managing donor portfolios.
