The Project Manager quickly understands our client’s needs and objectives with the ability to effectively manage teams of different sizes in their effort to deliver services. The Project Manager is expected to support engagements through defined processes. Individuals in this role are also responsible for supporting cross functional project teams against said process to ensure successful deliveries. This role requires individuals who are proactive problem solvers that can manage team dynamics, manage project financial performance, clearly communicate status, and drive progression towards dates.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the establishment of dates required for completion of activities and evaluate the impact of change to the overall timeline as needed
  • Monitor progress and identify risks, issues and gaps that could impact timelines, and goals of services; report these risks internally
  • Provide accurate and frequent status to internal teams on a regular basis
  • Draft external status reporting to clients as needed
  • Continuously monitor project health via resourcing, profitability and burn rates
  • Participate in conversations with clients and VMLY&R COMMERCE teams to define KPI’s and meaningful metrics to report project health
  • Gain an understanding of clients’ organization to properly set up project teams, processes to be used, communication tools, etc.
  • Collaborate with cross functional team and leadership to produce estimates and timelines for various possible solutions
  • Participate in the creation of exceptional quality project setup documents detailing scope, assumptions, success criteria, risks, and communication strategy
  • Proactively work with cross functional teams to eliminate blockers and impediments
  • Participate in team retrospectives, stand ups, and sprint planning sessions (for tech projects only)
  • Track project scope changes, delivery timing, and key project metrics
  • Communicate project progress, changes, and risks internally and externally when necessary
  • Quickly learn the basics of a given industry as needed to support client work
  • Adhere to and advocate VMLY&R COMMERCE's standard processes, tools and guidelines
  • Analyze processes continuously for refinement; support the execution of measures for optimization
  • Understand and author business, functional and non-functional requirements via user stories and acceptance criteria

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent Project Management experience
  • 2+ years of project management experience
  • PM Technical Skills: Proficient in project managing via a flexible approach. Should be considered an expert in at least one channel (Website/Mobile apps, interactive/digital, print, or video) but understands other mediums well enough to be a strategic problem solver.
  • Understanding of business requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
  • Ability to break down and simplify complex problems and systems into smaller and more consumable components
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with multiple application lifecycle management solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve conflict with productive outcomes
  • Ability to be effective within a team environment
  • Ability to effectively work across departments with diplomacy and a firm understanding of other’s roles and responsibilities
  • Able to view problems in context at the system level and align solutions with the strategic direction of our clients and company
  • Proactive, adaptable, and flexible
