Tyler Technologies, the nation’s premier provider of innovative digital government solutions and secure payment processing, is currently seeking a Technical Proposal Writer to complement our growing team. Working for our Digital Solutions Division’s Strategy and Growth team, you will work in close cooperation with our operations and product teams to create technical content and sales messaging in response to RFP/Q/O/Is from federal, state, and local governments.  Responsibilities will include proposal writing using collaboration tools and knowledge management systems, industry research, and competitor research. In this important role, you will need to quickly become an expert on Tyler’s products, markets, customers, and competitors and be able to translate this knowledge into high-impact materials that clearly communicate the value of our solutions to the marketplace. Tyler is seeking an experienced proposal writer who can work independently to develop and manage individual proposals in a collaborative environment with geographically dispersed cross-functional teams.  A live writing exercise may be required of qualified candidates.


Responsibilities:

  • Work with software engineering and product development teams to create technical content and sales messaging content in response to RFPs from federal, state, and local governments.  -
  • Analyze and break down complex government RFPs to develop detailed response outlines that ensure compliance with every requirement of the solicitation.
  • Develop timelines for proposals and manage all activities – including overseeing content developed by numerous contributors – to ensure milestones and timelines are met.
  • Managing the overall proposal messaging strategy internally across diverse teams and levels of management.
  • Track changes to published government opportunities from multiple sites and alert teams to addenda or other changes.
  • Become a domain expert on specific Tyler SaaS products and platforms and analyze potential opportunities to determine fit and function.
  • Provide editorial feedback to other team members working on different proposals.
  • Travel may be required for conferences and proposal submission.


Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree and government proposal experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and persuasion skills – including written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong proficiencies in grammar, writing composition, and editing.
  • Ability to create technical, sales, and consumer-facing messaging that adheres to company branding and style standards.
  • The ability to quickly learn about Tyler’s target audiences, including the terminology, tone, and messaging used in our various industry verticals.
  • Turning complex software engineering technical language into compelling content that uses everyday terms.
  • Ability to prioritize the hierarchy of product features and technology to maximize product’s selling potential for the specific opportunity.
  • Strong self-management discipline, with a proven track record of independently taking projects from initial concept to completion.
  • Demonstrated skills to include detailed proposal planning, conducting regular status meetings, writing and editing content, overseeing the contributions of subject matter experts, engaging with executives to secure approvals, monitoring all content for compliance, preparing files for final submission, and submitting via online systems and/or in-person offerings. 
  • Comfortable working on multiple projects in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment – with the willingness to immediately contribute to fast-moving submissions that require extra attention.
  • Desktop publishing expertise that includes expert-level understanding of MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel, and familiarity with graphic development tools is a plus.
  • Comfortable working in collaboration tools such as MS SharePoint and Teams and with proposal development tools such as Qvidian.
  • Ability to marry strong narrative content with graphical elements to improve proposal quality.
  • Understanding of printing industry to enable binding large multi-volume proposals for in-person submissions.
