Total Wine & More is seeking a Senior Analyst, Assortment Planning (Merch) to join our Assortment Planning team in our Bethesda, MD office. The Assortment Planning Senior Analyst will play a key role in optimizing product assortments to maximize sales and ensure customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will be able to synthesize large amounts of data from multiple sources, use it to drive actionable insights that improve our business, and manage multiple priorities. You will report to the Sr. Manager of Assortment Planning.  
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute effective assortment plans based on sales trends, historical data, and market analysis
  • Analyze sales data, customer trends, and market data to identify gaps and opportunities within the assortment.  Provide recommendations for products to discontinue or expand to ensure Total Wine capitalizes on all important trends, maximizes space productivity, and maintains the best selection of all alcohol beverage retailers
  • Maintain Core assortment by category, ensuring store tiers and item tiers are updated at least once per year and as business needs dictate
  • Develop reporting and serve as a resource for ad hoc analysis to address business needs within the merchandising department 
  • Generate regular reports and presentations to communicate assortment performance, trends, and recommendations to management
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Finance, Merchandising, or a related field
  • 2-5 years of experience in assortment planning, inventory management, or related roles within the retail industry
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in data analysis tools and Excel
  • Ability to use data to tell a story and communicate it effectively through clear and concise reports
  • Ability to independently research and solve problems with a sense of urgency and bias toward action while managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships across functional areas
  • SQL, PowerBI, and Looker experience preferred, but not required
