Total Wine & More is seeking a Supervisor, Merchandise Accounting to join our Merchandise Accounting team in our Bethesda, MD office. You will review submitted invoices for accuracy and propriety, verifying that they have been properly coded, and entering them into an automated accounting system for payment. You will understand and implement accounting principles and be responsible for a team of specialists. You will report to the Manager, Merchandise Accounting.     
 
You will    
  • Review submitted invoices for completeness and accuracy 
  • Review processed invoices for payment within an automated environment, ensuring accuracy, and proper coding 
  • Ensure that invoice submissions comply with Company requirements and coach co-workers 
  • Release processed batches within Lawson Accounts Payable 
  • Handle communication between Supply Chain and external business partners 
  • Review vendor statements for exceptions and omissions 
  • Log activities and exceptions 
  • Follow up with vendors, store managers, and other employees to resolve open issues and discrepancies 
  • Handle Accounts Payable Help Desk inquiries within set timelines 
  • Perform research on payments and outstanding checks
  • Complete month-end journal entries
  • Complete month-end GL reconciliations
  • Apply cash payments
  • Ad-hoc reporting and analysis
You will come with 
  •  5+ years of accounts payable experience 
  • Good math skills 
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in MS Excel and Word 
  • Lawson or other ERP system experience
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Ability to set and support deadlines
  • Good organization skills
  • Superior communication skills, written and oral
