About the Role
We are looking for a Director, Business Intelligence & Data Analysis to join our Data Services team in Bethesda, MD. We are embarking on a significant initiative to transform all aspects of data, data science, and how data & insights are serviced within Total Wine & More – including data architecture, business intelligence, data enhancement, and leveraging the cloud to apply advanced analytics and data mining capabilities. You will lead a team of BI Developers and Data Warehouse Engineers in the development of insight-focused reports and visualizations to drive business value across all of Total Wine & More’s departments. We are looking for an individual who is skilled in designing best-in-class visualizations, partnering with stakeholders to understand their needs, and evangelizing insight-driven reporting and decision-making. You will work with the business, software development and support teams, infrastructure, and security staff. You will report to the Vice President of Data Services.

You will

  • You will develop and execute the strategy for evolving the company towards a culture of insight-driven reporting and decision-making, using intuitive visualizations and advanced data analysis.
  • Partner with business stakeholders across Total Wine & More to scope business needs and identify opportunities to drive value.
  • Grow and lead the BI & Analysis team through a mix of FTE and contractor headcount to satisfy current and future needs of the business
  • Lead the execution of all reporting and data analysis projects for the Data Services team across Total Wine & More’s business
  • Develop processes, policies, and artifacts to ensure reporting, visualization, and data analysis best practices are applied across all projects, including standardization/templates, version control, and solution documentation
  • Assess current reporting processes and architecture to identify areas for improvement
  • Coach junior team members and share knowledge with the broader team
You will come with
  • 8+ years of experience in BI and Data design, deployment, and support
  • 4+ years of experience in leading high performing BI or Data Analysis teams
  • Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university in Computer Science, Technology, Business, or related field
  • Experience in leveraging cloud-based BI applications such as Power BI and Google Looker
  • Familiarity with data architecture, engineering, management, visualization, and analysis tools and techniques
  • Experience working with stakeholders and cross-functional business partners
  • Proven demonstrated capability in gathering and documenting complex business and functional requirements
