Total Wine & More is seeking a Senior Data Scientist with expertise in all aspects of data science and data analysis, to join our Data Services team. The Senior Data Scientist will be responsible for leveraging advanced statistical models and machine learning to drive business value across all of Total Wine & More’s departments. We are looking for an individual who is skilled in all facets of the Analytics Lifecycle, including data gathering, data analysis, variable creation & selection, model building & selection, and visualization. This individual will work closely with the business, software development and support teams, infrastructure, and security staff and will enjoy learning and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment. The Total Wine & More Data Services team is growing, and we are driving business value through technology across all aspects of our business. You will report to the Director of Data Science and Analytics.
You will
- Use a wide range of advanced statistical models and machine learning to drive Total Wine & More business
- Build and manage machine learning and forecasting models through all phases of development from design, through training, validation, deployment, monitoring and measurement
- Scope technical solutions on large amounts of data that leverage data analysis and predictive modeling based off business needs
- Integrate scalable solutions into necessary applications and data pipelines
- Champion best practices in ML/AI domain across Total Wine & More. Communicate effectively with stakeholders of various tech skillsets about project implementation, results and evolutions of project
- Be proactive and take ownership of the projects and tasks assigned
You will come with
- Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field. Master’s or PhD preferred
- 3+ years of experience in data science, predictive analytics, econometrics or related fields or 3+ years with Master’s degree
- 3+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or related fields or 3+ years with Master’s degree
- Strong background in Applied Mathematics and Statistics
- Advanced degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or related field) is a plus
- Proven track record in building impactful solutions using predictive & prescriptive modeling
- Experience in the use of machine learning, econometrics, predictive modeling
- Experience in leveraging the cloud in the application of advanced analytics
- Experienced with general programing, statistical languages, and deep learning packages used to manipulate data and build statistical and machine learning models at a large scale, such as Python, Spark, PyTorch, Tensorflow, Keras, SQL, and SQL-like query languages for NoSQL databases
- Understanding of data science-related technology landscape, processes and design principles
- Familiarity with data architecture, data engineering, data management, and data analysis tools and techniques
- Passionate about data, data science, and insight generation
- Familiar with retail, wholesale, planning and allocation systems, or supply chain operations, preferred
- Strong analytic skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task, troubleshoot and problem solve along with the ability to make recommendations based on analysis are extremely important

The exempt compensation range for this position is $101,900 - $165,000. Compensation may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills and/or experience.
