Torrid is seeking a qualified candidate with a strong accounting background for a growing, fast-paced retail company. This role will involve leadership, analysis, and support for all team members. Working under the direction of the Internal Financial Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant will collaborate on daily accounting activities to accurately and promptly record the company’s revenues, expenditures, assets, and liabilities. The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated self-starter with exceptional attention to detail. This position requires a mix of technical accounting expertise and executive presence to communicate and collaborate effectively at a high level. 
 
What You’ll Do:    
  • Prepare comprehensive monthly financial reports in the established company format and in accordance with GAAP and bank covenants. 
  • Ensure all periodic reports are prepared and distributed in a timely and accurate manner. 
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations (as assigned) to properly monitor balance and ensure accuracy. 
  • Assist in monitoring variance analysis (comparison to forecast and budget). 
  • Develop a trusting and effective business partnership with FP&A and department heads to provide value-added data and support in a timely manner. 
  • Ensure the company is compliant where needed in relation to SOX, GAAP and internal policies. 
  • Coordinate more complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with other departments. 
  • Assist in the review, processing and tracking of fixed assets in accordance with company policy and GAAP. 
  • Prepare and maintain schedules to accurately track store relocations, remodels, and closures, including accelerated depreciation and ASC360 impairment. 
  • Prepare and analyze the monthly capital expenditure report for distribution to department heads.  You'll review the report with the department heads to determine YTD spend and accountability. 
  • Assist with quarterly, YE audit and other required filings. 
  • Prepare audit schedules and requests for quarterly reviews, YE audits and other required filings. 
  • Evaluate and implement new processes which improve efficiency, productivity and accuracy. 
  • Assist with project implementation and report writing. 
  • Ability to mentor and train other associates. 
  • Performs ad-hoc reports and special projects as needed. 
  
What You’ll Need:  
  • Bachelor degree in accounting or related field 
  • 4 years of progressive General Ledger accounting experience, with strong proficiency in GAAP. 
  • Experience in Lawson general ledger, Cognos Reporting and Blackline strongly preferred 
  • Retail industry knowledge preferred 
  • Advanced to expert proficiency in Excel. 
  • Self-starter, detail-oriented, and deadline-focused, with the ability to excel in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment. 
  • Knowledge of fundamental accounting concepts, practices, and procedures, with a constant drive to build on this knowledge. 
  • Understanding of internal controls over financial reporting (SOX). 
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated team player. 
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Able to work independently, stay on task, and work remotely. 
  • Professional demeanor required. 
  • Must be available to work on Pacific Time hours to meet the needs of the business. 
  • Occasional travel to HQ in City of Industry, CA is required.

Salary: $70,850 - $90,000 per year
