Assistant Professor of History, Tenure Track
The Department of History at Suffolk University invites applications for a tenure track appointment as an Assistant Professor in 20th-century Global History and Politics with a focus on Africa and/or the Middle East. Engagement in Public History with oral history proficiency is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in History at the time of appointment. Outstanding candidates in the final stage of doctoral studies are eligible for consideration but must have the degree in hand by July 1, 2021. Preferred applicants will have proven college/university teaching excellence and engagement with Public History.
Faculty responsibilities for this position include collaborating with departmental faculty to develop curricula in the applicant’s areas of specialization. General duties include teaching five courses per academic year, including core department courses and in the University’s first-year general education curriculum, advising and mentoring students, maintaining a productive research and publication trajectory, and actively participating in the life of the department, college, and university through involvement in shared governance and other service activities.
