The Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, start-up, troubleshooting, repair, and routine maintenance of all industrial packaging equipment at our customer facilities as well as at the Shorr warehouse/demo rooms. We are looking for an individual with strong electrical and mechanical skills who also has experience with troubleshooting equipment issues.

This position will pay between $33.00/hour - $38.00/hour depending on experience. 

Responsibilities

  • Set up, install/assemble, test, adjust, and disassemble packaging equipment from various manufacturers using electrical and mechanical skills.
  • Comfortable troubleshooting equipment and excellent customer service communication skills.
  • Repair packaging equipment, which includes troubleshooting, determining the extent of repair, estimating labor time, and completing repair parts requests.
  • Perform routine ongoing maintenance on all equipment.
  • Assist with moving and crating of packaging equipment.
  • Assist and train other Shorr Service Technicians and customer personnel on equipment.
  • Assist and improve customer satisfaction through promoting company services and products within company guidelines.
  • Operate machine tools when necessary in repairing or installing equipment.
  • Follow all OSHA safety rules and keep the work area clean.
  • Safely drive to and from local customers in a company-owned vehicle. 
  • Attend manufacturers' training/schools as needed, as well as acceptance tests at these manufacturers.
  • Travel to remote customer locations when necessary. 
  • Perform minor repairs on Shorr office and facility equipment.

Qualifications

  • Experience reading electrical/mechanical drawings, CAD drawings, and giving technical phone support
  • One to two years of related experience and/or training
  • Bachelors or Associates Degree preferred
  • Previous packaging equipment service experience preferred but not required 
  • Microsoft Office with emphasis on Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • PLC programming knowledge preferred
