Sr. Systems Engineer (Hybrid)

The System Engineer III provides analytical support to the Decision and Infrastructure through the application of risk analysis, and assessment of dependencies and interdependencies across critical infrastructure systems. These responsibilities include developing, evaluating, and applying a range of tools, datasets, and strategies to support systems analysis.
The Systems Engineer serves as the first line of support for the System Engineering team. Responsibilities include troubleshooting 3rd level service desk tickets until resolution and working IT Specialist when needed. General direction is received from the Director, Infrastructure and Cloud Operations.
Responsibilities
- Administrator on active directory and manage additions, changes or deletions to the tree structure and group policies as necessitated by the business environment.
- Administrator for O365 including Azure active directory (AAD), email and security.
- Ensure cloud and virtual server environment is updated with current, stable versions of software products; maintain currency with operating system and support software; plan and implement software upgrades. Work with cloud and managed service providers, AWS experience preferred.
- Manage daily, weekly, monthly backup schedules and performs restores of Virtual Servers and data.
- Troubleshoot and successfully diagnose server hardware or software problems of all levels of complexity while working directly with vendors when necessary. Responsible for monitoring server and event activity logs and taking preventive steps reducing system outages and congestion.
- Implement required connectors, firewall changes, site-to-site VPNs.
- Installing, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting various network architecture.
- Design, write, and update both system documentation and network diagrams, including documenting all system installation, maintenance, and diagrams.
- Perform capacity planning, workload modeling/prediction, and purchasing recommendations for new hardware/software upgrades.
- Maintaining current knowledge and understanding of networking and security best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems.
- Supporting head office, warehouses, and remote facilities
- Support disaster recovery framework, plans and technology including annual disaster recovery exercises with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Support the implementation of a business lead business continuity plan (BCP) for continued operations in the event of a disaster; including plans to continue information systems functions at other locations and implementing/supporting disaster recovery procedures.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 7-10 years related experience required including:
- Windows Server 2016/2019/2022
- Windows 10
- Windows /2016/2019/2022
- Active Directory domains
- Microsoft Intune, SharePoint, Teams, and Exchange online
- Microsoft Clustering
- Microsoft SQL
- AWS Cloud Services
- Microsoft SCCM or similar patch management solutions
- O365 Administration and security
- Multi-Factor Authentication solutions (Duo preferred)
- Veeam and Rubrik or other cloud backup solutions
- PowerShell commands and scripting
- MCSE Preferred
