POSITION SUMMARY:
This position performs the maintenance and minor repairs of the company’s fleet. The fleet consists of vehicles and heavy equipment (top loaders, mules, forklifts, step vans, cars, etc.). To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in equipment maintenance, repairs, operations, and maintenance programs.
- Knowledge of methods, techniques, and procedures involved in maintenance repairs.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak basic English.
- Must be able to accurately process alpha/numeric information.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, extended hours, holidays, and/or weekends as needed.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong initiative.
- Possess organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, vendors and fellow employees.
- Ability to think logically, follow procedures, and instructions and make sound decisions.
- Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card within 30 days of employment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform all planned maintenance on diesel engines and on fuel, brake, and transmission systems to ensure peak performance, safety and longevity of equipment.
- Perform minor repair work to the brake, electric and hydraulic systems.
- Assist in the overhaul and repair and/or rebuild all vehicles and power industrial trucks.
- Fix and/or replace lights on all vehicles and power industrial trucks.
- Maintain a clean work area, free of debris or safety hazards and maintain an awareness of surrounding (i.e. vehicles, equipment, etc.) at all times.
Secondary
- Perform minor body work and finish to the fleet.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Subject to physical and/or DOT Screening is required along with other tests as applicable.
- The employee is continuously required to stand, walk, grasp, exercise repetitive wrist motion, eye-hand coordination.
- The employee is continuously required to talk and hear.
- The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, squat, twist, pinch, bend and reach forward and overhead.
- The employee is occasionally required to kneel, crawl, exercise repetitive foot motion, eye-hand-foot coordination and finger dexterity.
- The employee is frequently required to lift and carry up to 5 pounds and occasionally required to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds,
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
- Report safety hazards.

- Refuse any unsafe task or operation.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Receives direct supervision from the Mechanic’s Manager. Does not exercise supervision over the Power Shop Department and/or any other department.
CONDITIONS:
- Work is performed primarily in the shop/outdoors; exposed to all possible environmental factors such as extreme heat, rain, wind and high humidity during day and night shifts.
- The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to dust, fumes, and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
- Moderate vibration though hands when using power tools and throughout body when operating power industrial equipment.
