POSITION SUMMARY:
This position assists the Inventory Control Supervisor by providing guidance and training to the parts and inventory employees and acts as a back up to assist with the work performed in the department to ensure its smooth and efficient operation. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. QUALIFICATIONS & ABILITIES:
Required
- Three (3) years’ experience in warehouse shipping and receiving to include inventory updating and reporting.
- Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills including demonstrated telephone techniques
and positive customer relations abilities.
- Effective organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize projects with telephone interruptions.
- Must be able to accurately process alpha/numeric information.
- Basic knowledge in MS Excel and Word programs and AS/400
- Ability to think logically and follow procedures and instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and other individuals. s/he may have to contact to perform her/his job. Ability to delegate.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries regarding quotes with local vendors.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and possess strong initiative.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish). Intermediate knowledge of business English and Spanish, including speaking, reading, proper spelling and punctuation.
- Flexibility to work extended hours, holidays and/or weekends as needed.
- Possess forklift certification.
- Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card within 30 days of employment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary:
- Leads, provides training on departmental function, and directs team efforts in a warehouse environment while informing supervisor of problems or potential problems that require immediate attention.
- Ensures departmental goals are met, plans for additional resources, sets goals, objectives, and realistic action plan.
- Verify AS/400 records against physical counts of inventory and adjust errors in computation or count as well
as reporting overages, shortages, and damages.
- Obtains prior approval of orders/replenishments before processing to accounting.
- Oversee the preparation of Pre count for cycle counts and prepare the final reports
- Enter daily fuel replenishments with prior approval send daily fuel receiving report to accounting and set-up
employee pin numbers.
- Track tire inventory and keep up with the BRM & BTL RETREAD reports.
- Create jobs for Reefer parts loaded into Vessels, and Cranes and all Safety equipment distribute throughout the terminal.
- Assist with the data entry of all Material request forms (Excel) and fulfillment the orders requested by all Dept.
- Assist the Maintenance Dept by Ordering all materials and supplies needed for terminal projects.
- Process all receiving POD’s, Invoices, and PR’s including scanning Daily Log to accounting.
- Maintains Reefer parts location in the DST system and assist with fulfilling and loading requested parts for ALL Reefer
technician on Seaboard vessels.
- Distributing inventory reports and identifying inventory discrepancies, as well as, working with management to
resolve such discrepancies and maintain inventory accuracy.
- Respond to Accounting on inquiries regarding inventories and invoices
- Track, update and reconcile storage files that are stored off site and pull-out storage boxes once ready for destruction.
Secondary:
- Perform physical and cycle count inventory.
- Assist in the Parts Room front counter
- Enter data into DST system (create new parts, enter job orders, update returned parts, etc.)
- Run various reports from the DST inventory system.
- Observes and assists in the enforcement of safety and security procedures.
- Assist with Parts runs
- Other duties as assigned by management.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use his fingers.
- The employee frequently is required to talk and/or hear.
- The employee is continuously required to sit.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
CONDITIONS:
- Exposure to all possible environmental factors such as extreme heat, rain, wind and high humidity during the day.
- The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
- The employee is continuously exposed to dust, fumes, and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
