Intro
We’re looking for a Lead React Native Mobile Developer to drive the next generation of cross-platform mobile experiences at Rightpoint. This is not a “keep the lights on” role. It’s a chance to architect solutions that ship to both iOS and Android simultaneously, leveraging the full power of React Native, Expo, and the modern JavaScript ecosystem to deliver native-quality experiences at scale.
You’ll be a hands-on lead and technical mentor, guiding a team of mobile developers while staying deep in the code yourself. You’ll work across multiple high-impact engagements, from consumer apps serving millions of users to enterprise platforms and AI-powered mobile experiences, partnering closely with designers, product strategists, and cross-functional engineering teams.
If you’re energized by the React Native ecosystem, passionate about cross-platform craftsmanship, comfortable bridging web and native worlds, thrive in a fast-moving consulting environment, and want to define how mobile experiences are built for Fortune 500 clients, this is your role.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Lead React Native architecture and technical strategy across multiple client engagements, making critical decisions on system design, state management, navigation, API contracts, and deployment patterns.
• Design and build high-quality cross-platform mobile applications using React Native, Expo, and TypeScript, shipping production apps to both iOS and Android with a unified codebase.
• Architect performant, maintainable component libraries and design systems that bridge Figma design tokens to pixel-perfect, platform-consistent implementations.
• Integrate native modules and platform APIs, writing custom native code in Swift/Kotlin when React Native’s JS layer doesn’t reach, and bridging hardware capabilities including Bluetooth (BLE), NFC, camera, biometrics, and push notifications.
• Champion agentic engineering practices: designing systems where AI agents, on-device ML (via platform APIs), and intelligent workflows enhance both developer and end-user experiences.
• Collaborate directly with UX/UI designers working in Figma, translating design intent into responsive, accessible, and performant cross-platform implementations.
• Mentor and lead a team of mobile developers through hands-on code reviews, pair programming, architectural guidance, and technical coaching.
• Drive engineering excellence across CI/CD pipelines (EAS Build, GitHub Actions, Fastlane), automated testing (Jest, Detox, React Native Testing Library), modular architecture, and developer tooling.
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients, translating complex business requirements into elegant cross-platform mobile solutions and presenting architectural recommendations with clarity.
• Evaluate and recommend the right mobile strategy for each engagement (React Native, Expo Go, bare workflow, or a native module bridge) while ensuring quality standards are never compromised on either platform.
• Contribute to Rightpoint’s mobile practice through thought leadership, reusable frameworks, internal tooling, and open-source contributions.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
• 6+ years of professional mobile development experience, with 4+ years focused on React Native and a strong portfolio of shipped, production-grade cross-platform applications.
• Deep expertise in React Native, Expo, TypeScript, and the modern React ecosystem (hooks, context, concurrent rendering).
• Proven experience as a technical lead or architect on large-scale, multi-team cross-platform mobile projects.
• Strong understanding of mobile architecture patterns and when to apply each.
• Solid grasp of both iOS and Android platform behaviors, UI conventions, and performance characteristics, including where React Native’s defaults diverge and how to bridge the gap.
• Experience writing native modules in Swift or Kotlin to bridge platform capabilities not covered by the JS layer.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD for cross-platform mobile (EAS Build, GitHub Actions, etc.) and automated testing strategies (Jest, Detox).
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present architectural decisions to both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders with equal confidence.
• A collaborative, team-first mindset with a passion for mentoring and growing other developers.
WHAT SETS YOU APART
• Experience with Expo’s managed and bare workflows, EAS Build, EAS Submit, and OTA update strategies using expo-updates.
• Exposure to agentic AI patterns, including designing systems where LLMs, intelligent agents, or AI-driven workflows enhance mobile app experiences.
• Familiarity with Figma’s developer handoff workflows, design tokens, and Figma-to-code tooling for bridging design and engineering.
• Experience in consulting, agency, or multi-client environments where adaptability and speed are essential.
• Track record working in regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, government) with secure coding practices and compliance requirements.
• Contributions to open source React Native projects or speaking at React Native / mobile developer conferences.
• Next.js and React web development experience, enabling full-stack contributions and tight alignment with web engineering teams sharing component logic.
• Familiarity with additional cross-platform frameworks (Flutter, KMP) and a clear perspective on when each approach is the right answer.
• Experience with React Native Web or universal app strategies targeting mobile and web from a shared codebase.
