The Role:
 
This role is to lead and inspire a dedicated team of Data Scientists,  Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) experts in developing innovative, machine-driven solutions aimed at achieving the Resolver Mission - to provide practitioners with unparalleled foresight into risk and the tools to act decisively to mitigate them.
As a leader across the UK and Canada, the role will lead the team effectively, managing stakeholders, planning and executing on agreed plans and building continuous professional development directly into our work environment.
 
Description of the role:
 
  • Work with the Product Team to ensure we’re building the right thing, at the right time, at the right level of investment.
  • Enable the team to maximize their impact by providing oversight, support, and guidance through coordinating best use of resources, reviewing projects and potential risks, and resolving bottlenecks. 
  • Own the team’s processes to balance innovation, research and development and business as usual activity.  
  • Partner with the Talent Team on applicable hiring decisions as an active part of the hiring process.
  • Help build training materials and documentation designed to maximize time-to-productivity of new hires, and to help new developers learn.
  • Mentor and coach the team in the achievement of OKRs and personal performance objectives.  
  • Provide regular one-on-one feedback to improve performance while proactively seeking opportunities to celebrate wins within the team.
  • Leading on identifying opportunities for innovation across new data science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence capabilities.
  • Deploying and exposing this capability to product,  engineering and supportive functions to make sure the AI capability is understood, adopted and utilised to its greatest potential.
  • Responsible for best practice governance, architecture and implementation of technical capability to ensure effective training, testing and monitoring takes place
  • Making sure the capability we create is as performant as it can be and that relevant evaluation metrics and business metrics are chosen for the specific use case
  • Oversee the development, testing, and deployment of relevant capability, including ongoing quality and financial monitoring
  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for AI and ML initiatives that align with the organisation's mission to protect users from digital harms.
  • Drive innovation by staying up to date with the latest advancements in AI and ML technologies and incorporating them into the organisation’s solutions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Data, Engineering, and Product Leads to aid the knowledge propagation and to deliver comprehensive ML solutions.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
 
  • Degree educated in a computer science, mathematics or related discipline (or equivalent) OR demonstrable experience in the industry of machine learning
  • Strong leadership and operational delivery skills to use risk analysis, artificial intelligence and machine learning to drive business value.
  • Ability to bridge the gap between business and technology with respect to machine learning and risk detection.
  • Strong analytical skills to effectively create recommendations, influence decision-making, assess impacts, compare solutions, problem solve, and achieve business and/or technical objectives.
  • High accountability for the successful delivery 
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing AI algorithms
  • Deep understanding of machine learning technologies and capabilities
  • A strong understanding of operational delivery processes and how to embed machine detection effectively into the organisation.
  • A strong understanding of both the technical aspects of machine learning as well as business needs
