Responsibilities for the Chief Software Architect

  • Drive the technical evolution and consolidation of Qualifacts platforms
  • Lead a team of senior architects by bringing expertise across relevant domains
  • Support teams with continual architectural guidance and technical leadership
  • Provide guidance, perform reviews, prevent, or resolve technical issues, and ensure solutions are designed using appropriate principles and standards
  • Help enhance the scalability, performance, efficiency, resiliency, and security of the platforms
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and tools, the speed of deployment and rollback, and the maintainability and sustainability of the platforms and infrastructure
  • Recommend optimal infrastructure architecture to host the platforms
  • Collaborate with Product Management, Product Owners, and other key stakeholders in driving the architecture to meet our product vision goals
  • Protect the sensitive data provided by our customers through the application of state-of-the-art security technologies and controls
  • Communicate design concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Lead and mentor other senior technologists in the company
  • Evaluate new technology platforms and components
  • Participate in the establishment of reference architecture and domain models
  • Lead discussions of complex solution design trade-offs and drive conflict resolution
  • Encourage innovation, creative thought, and new ideas / solutions

Qualifications of the Chief Software Architect

  • MS in Computer Science, or related field preferred
  • 5+ years leading software architecture teams 
  • 10+ years in architecture and design roles on projects related to software applications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities of the Chief Software Architect

  • Experience in design and development of software, n-tier architectures, web services, and object-oriented design
  • Understanding of data center infrastructure products and data center architecture
  • Experience analyzing complex performance issues and identifying performance bottlenecks
  • Familiarity with both C#/.NET and Java-based frameworks
  • Experience developing SaaS architectures with strong hands-on understanding of cloud technologies including public cloud services
  • Understanding of SQL databases systems and alternatives
  • Experience designing and maintaining large enterprise software applications in high load, highly available environments
  • Proficient in enterprise application integration with external entities
  • Excellent listening and communications skills, both written and spoken, including ability to discuss and present information logically and concisely
  • Experience with Agile/scrum and DevOps methods and tools
  • Competency in the several of the following areas: Healthcare solutions, SaaS, Security, mobile apps, AWS, Kubernetes, OpenShift, microservices, and open-source software
