Head of Maintenance/Sanitation/Environmental/Innovation (MSEI)
SUMMARY: The Head of MSEI will provide leadership and strategic guidance related to adherence and continuous improvement of Pilgrim’s established maintenance practices. This includes the development of BU level directors and regional managers to achieve overall departmental goals aligned with all company goals and objectives. This is responsible for the management of Maintenance, Environmental, Sanitation, and Innovation and will report to the Head of Growth and Operational Support.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Head of Growth and Operational Support with strategic initiatives for the benefit of company growth and objectives
- Communicate and demonstrate Company’s Vision, Strategy, and Methods
- Execute, monitor, and develop the effectiveness of Company’s established maintenance, sanitation, environmental, and innovation processes, revising as necessary
- Examine and evaluate direct reports’ BU and project performance relative to the organization and provide guidance on strategy to improve
- Develop, track, and report corporate KPIs to drive company success
- Ensure all teams comply with established corporate policies associated with ethics and compliance
- Lead the corporate team to develop a culture that attracts and retains high-performing team members
- Conduct performance reviews and establish development plans to grow direct reports
- Collaborate with other corporate departments to drive overall operational and performance improvement YOY
- Recruit and develop future leadership in all organizations
- Manage, monitor, and drive development and reporting for all annual budgets and best practices across HMEI managed organizations
- Manage continuous improvement with the corporate maintenance training program and ensure safety training compliance through the program
- Implement and enforce Company safety policy
- Ensure adequate staff training and documentation thereof, in line with Company policies
- Ensure that the requirements of the Quality System, The Medical Device Directive (EU), the Quality System Regulation (US FDA), and other relevant standards are fulfilled by the corporate maintenance team
- Oversee sanitation operations at all assigned plants and determine the need for improvements in overall performance
- Lead initiatives to establish sanitation standards across all assigned plants
- Maintain strong relationships with chemical vendors and suppliers
- Manage development of new sanitation training initiatives and Sanitation Standards Operational Procedures (SSOP)
- Manage overall optimization of chemical usage by overseeing reporting and inventory performed by the Chemical Vendor and the Sanitation Manager on usage
- Responsible for corrective actions when employees are noncompliant with GMPs, safety, cleanliness, and sanitation
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 8+ years of engineering/maintenance experience in the poultry processing and/or food industry
- 7-10 years of experience with environmental engineering, manufacturing, machinery fabrication industry, with 5 years at management level, preferably regional
- 3-5 years of related sanitation experience within the food industry preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering/chemical engineering or related field, MBA desirable, but not required.
- Strong communication and analytical skills and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization
- Proven ability to lead, influence, and inspire people and promote quality, safety, and teamwork
- Strong organization, mechanical aptitude, problem-solving, decision-making, time management, technical skills, and strategic thinking
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, wastewater treatment, and air permitting programs, including Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) policies and regulations
- Previous work experience with Environmental Management Systems, CMMS applications, large data management processes,
- Knowledge and experience in contract administration, ability to manage third-party contractors, and ability to work independently
- Computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite Products (Word, Excel, PPT, Outlook)
- Demonstrated strategic thinking abilities
- Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:
- Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
- Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
- 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
- Base salary range of $220,000 – $270,000;
- Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program; and
