Starting Salary: $27.00-$35.00/hour

The Opportunity 

As a member of the Technical Services team supporting the Refinery, you will work to maintain safe, reliable, and profitable operation of the refinery by overseeing operation of assigned units, troubleshoot issues, support turnarounds and improvement projects.

Processes at the Burnaby refinery include crude distillation, fluid catalytic cracking, hydrotreating, isomerization, catalytic reforming, alkylation, sulfur recovery, energy and utilities, wastewater treatment, and blending and shipping.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure technical support needs are met for Operations, HSE, Maintenance, Facilities Planning and Supply functions.
  • Support planned turnarounds and associated turnaround improvements.
  • Supporting process hazard analyses, management of change, and investigations processes.
  • Developing business cases and facilitating process and project improvements projects.
  • Support with development of plant test runs, pressure surveys, coordinating sampling and unit troubleshooting.

Education

  • Currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution and pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • Preference will be given to students in their 3rd, 4th, or 5th year of study with one academic term remaining following the completion of the work term.

    • Creative and analytical thinker with strong time management skills; self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to work effectively with a high degree of collaboration and communication through in-person meetings and video conferences.
