Staff Accountant I- (POP) Poway- Hybrid
Description
The primary responsibility of this position is to perform accounting functions including reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and assisting with month-end close procedures. Prepare monthly journal entries and schedules for the completion of the monthly accounting cycle in accordance with GAAP.
This position receives direction from the Controller and exercises some supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.
- Enters and posts cash receipts, cash disbursements and funds transferred for all bank accounts.
- Process monthly bank reconciliations.
- Ensuring accurate account coding for miscellaneous deposits and Client Invoice payments.
- Completes and maintains banking functions such as positive pay uploads and responding to bank notifications.
- Prepares ACH, Wires and bank transfers for approvals.
- Management and maintenance of all fixed assets including processing, reconciling, policy, and procedure. Communicate with hospital administration to coordinate their capital contribution.
- Completes and maintains prepaid expenses, and process monthly allocations.
- Post and process various accrued expenses at month-end.
- Prepares audit documentation and assists with yearly financial audit and any other audits that arise.
- Update and maintain various expense allocations based on property location square footage.
- Post and process statistical journal entries for all metrics reported in Financial Statements.
- Assist with special projects assigned by management.
- Performs financial analysis and ad-hoc reporting
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
Proficient to advanced computer knowledge with Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and Accounting software required. Lawson or Great Plains experience preferred.
One year experience in healthcare preferred; outpatient practice experience preferred.
