Ability to speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. * Prepares exam rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment.
* Provides appropriate, direct patient care in assigned area(s).
* Takes patient's vital signs and provides personal care to patients.
* Opens sterile supplies and sets up procedures.
* Demonstrates sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress.
* Preps charts for future clinics.
* Ensures accurate maintenance of patient's medical records and that patient records are treated as confidential information.
* Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives, and infection control policies.
* Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.
* Tasks care plan from doctor's notes
* Provides health care instruction to patients and family members.
* Documents transactions, phone conversations, observations, and orders in medical record according to policy and procedure of clinic.
* Responsible for following clinic policies and procedures for infection control in handling and disposing of infectious/hazardous waste materials.
* Responsible for accurate administration of medications as appropriate and collection/handling of lab specimens.
Procedures:
* Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by providing necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment.
* Maintain a sterile field during surgeries by following aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
* Prepare operating rooms for surgeries, including setting up surgical instruments and equipment as well as breakdown.
* Anticipate the surgeons and patient needs during procedures and provide appropriate assistance.
* Handle specimens and send them to the laboratory for analysis.
* Assist with patient positioning and draping.
* Provide patient care before, during, and after surgeries, including monitoring vital signs and assisting with patient transport.
