Job Description:
Onset Technologies is seeking a Senior Data Analyst in Austin, TX. This role requires a highly analytical professional to examine current business requirements, workflows, and data flows, and to identify opportunities for system and process improvements. The analyst will translate complex business needs into Epics and User Stories with clear acceptance criteria, facilitate workshops, and collaborate closely with stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams. The ideal candidate will have expertise in documenting data requirements, creating dashboards and visual data models, and leading data-focused meetings to drive resolution of business and system challenges. Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent data projects are essential.
Job Responsibilities:
- Analyze existing business requirements, current processes, data flows, and pain points to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Translate complex business needs into actionable requirements through Epics, User Stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams to ensure alignment of system capabilities with business objectives.
- Document current-state processes, data requirements, workflows, and system interactions.
- Lead workshops, interviews, and meetings to gather, validate, and communicate requirements.
- Create and maintain dashboards, visual data models, and reports to communicate trends, performance, and project timelines.
- Drive resolution of data-related issues by facilitating discussions and documenting outcomes.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 8+ years hands-on experience as a business/data analyst in the IT industry.
- 8+ years experience collaborating with technical and non-technical teams to solve complex, data-driven business problems.
- 8+ years experience designing and optimizing data workflows and management processes using modeling or mapping tools.
- 8+ years experience writing Epics, User Stories, and acceptance criteria for development and QA teams.
- 8+ years experience creating and maintaining data documentation including data dictionaries, business requirement documents (BRDs), and data mapping specifications.
- 8+ years experience designing and presenting visual data models and dashboards.
- 8+ years experience leading data-focused meetings, documenting outcomes, and driving resolution of data-related issues.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- 4+ years Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 4+ years experience managing multiple concurrent data projects or assignments.
- 4+ years working knowledge of eligibility rules for SNAP, Medicaid, and TANF programs, including interpreting and applying state and federal guidelines.
- 3+ years experience interpreting and applying policy within integrated eligibility case management systems.
