Job Description:
The Data Reporting Analyst will perform senior-level consultative and technical assistance services, supporting DSHS program initiatives. Responsibilities include analyzing priority initiatives and special projects, developing and maintaining data models, defining requirements, creating reports and dashboards, and ensuring adherence to data best practices and standards. The candidate will provide recommendations to project leadership and work collaboratively to maximize success across multiple projects.
This position is hybrid open to candidates in Austin, TX.
Job Responsibilities:
- Acquire data from various sources, create regular reports, and perform deep analysis of trends and correlations.
- Develop data analysis tools, dashboards, and visualizations for business users.
- Map current and future-state data processes to identify opportunities for operational efficiency improvements.
- Establish benchmarks and frameworks for trend analysis and performance measurement.
- Analyze data policies and procedures to determine their effect on automated systems and system functionality.
- Prepare reports highlighting gaps in technology, operational effectiveness, and program performance for executive stakeholders.
- Develop metadata, tables, and user interfaces to ensure clarity in reporting outputs.
- Collaborate with staff on projects to maximize success and support multiple initiatives.
- Ensure best practices and standards are followed throughout data analysis and reporting activities.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 8+ years of experience researching, gathering, correlating, and analyzing data to solve complex problems.
- 8+ years transforming data into actionable insights and delivering reports to executive stakeholders.
- 8+ years developing and contributing to as-is / to-be data models and identifying opportunities for operational efficiency.
- 8+ years mapping data processes and establishing performance measurement frameworks.
- 8+ years analyzing data policies, procedures, and their impact on automated systems.
- 8+ years using reporting tools to create dashboards, visualizations, and actionable reports.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years experience with advanced reporting tools for dashboards and data visualizations.
- 5+ years experience developing SDLC artifacts including gap analysis, recommendations, roadmaps, requirements, design documents, system/data flow diagrams, test cases, and use cases.
- 1+ year experience in state or federal public sector projects.
