JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
Truck Technician Intern will assist Truck Technician/Mentor to perform operational duties relating to trucks and/or engine service and repair. Internships will be based on school requirements, typically following school days, and must amount to less than 30 hours per week.
Follow safe working practices and procedures. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Truck Technician Intern must work with a mentor at all times, work cannot be performed without a mentor or supervisor present.
Work with supervisor and mentor to follow a career development plan: complete service reports, and clean mechanical parts, and components. Perform maintenance activities on engine and or equipment. Locate and use service literature and/or technical information on Peterbilt and other OEM websites. Communicate effectively with and work harmoniously and constructively with other employees and customers.
Attend required safety training classes and onsite training as needed
Follow clear verbal and written instructions
Adhere to all company policies and procedures
Performing other related tasks and activities as directed by supervisor and mentor
Keep up to date with developments in tooling, technologies, and systems with the help of supervisors and mentors.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
Understanding and carrying out written and verbal instructions. Uniforms will be provided that identify Truck Technician Intern employees. Uniforms need to be worn during work hours.
Must be enrolled in a high school vocational Automotive/Diesel program
Must Maintain a 2.5 GPA (preferred)
Must have a good school attendance record
Strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn to use and maintain equipment and machinery. Basic Computer skills. Effective reading and writing skills. Mathematical and mechanical aptitude.
Truck Technician Interns are not authorized to operate the following:
Ability to work individually or on a team.
Must demonstrate good customer service skills.
Strong work ethic with attention to detail.
Ability to manage time-based on daily requirements. Must be reliable and punctual to work.
Lifting/Carrying 40 lb. Lift/Carry and 50lb pulling
Standing/Sitting Up and down stairs, standing, sitting, and climbing into machines
Repetitive Motions Frequent movement requiring hands, wrists, and fingers
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
