Payroll Specialist

Administrative Renton, Washington


Northwest Center is looking to add a Payroll Specialist to the team. 

In this role, you will be processing the payroll for approximately 900 employees on a biweekly basis. Specific duties would include management of all payroll accounts, associated records, payroll reporting, and taxes. Wage: $28+ per hour DOE
Renton, WA
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday

Essential Functions:                                       

  • Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll
    • Keep detailed and organized payroll records
    • Manage all payroll transactions to ensure they are processed accurately and timely
    • Coordinate with Human Resources to review and enter garnishments, reimbursements, and other earnings/deductions
    • 457 Report creation for each payroll
  • Adhere to state requirements for payroll-related deductions and taxes, including withholding, unemployment, and workers compensation
  • Process accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting
  • Compile and submit payroll deductions related to check requests and payments
  • Reconcile and post all payroll data to the correct accounting period for tax and general ledger purposes
  • Stay current with all Payroll HRIS system updates; review updates and provide recommendations to supervisors
  • Monthly processing of Certified Payroll reports
  • Commitment to continual process improvement of payroll procedures


  • Associates degree required
  • Minimum five (5) years payroll processing experience
  • Hands-on detail level experience with complex payroll issues
  • Experience working in a multi-division, or multi-department environment
  • Experience working with several state and city tax systems (including online portals)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Federal and State payroll regulations
  • Knowledge of advanced Excel functions
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) and Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC), preferred
