Description

Northwest Center is now hiring a Senior Manager of Employee Experience. This role will provide expertise in employee relations (ER) and manage other HR team members by fostering an inclusive and equitable work environment for all. The Manager drives the principles and processes required to navigate complex and sensitive employee issues, conduct thorough investigations, and provide sound guidance to pursue the best outcomes that mitigate risks. The Senior Manager will be accountable for working with employees across the organization, building trusted relationships quickly and leading with empathy, compassion, and creativity to think inside and outside of the box to drive the right solutions.

Location: Renton, WA + Local Travel Required

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday 

Salary: 90k + DOE

Essential Duties:

  • Develop and manage ER solutions, programs, and policies
  • Design and implement mechanisms to share best practices, evaluate efficiencies and effectiveness, develop team goals, and set expectations across the team
  • Give guidance in interpreting and explaining human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, guidelines, and regulations
  • Act as a subject matter expert providing strategic coaching to HR professionals and management of all levels on addressing a variety of people issues while effectively mitigating organizational risk
  • Provide support and guidance to direct reports within the HR team
  • End-to-end management of sensitive investigations into ER matters, including complaints of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other workplace policy violations, and facilitating ER meetings with employees of all levels
  • Conduct investigations and make recommendations to ensure equity, fairness, and legal compliance
  • Deliver and defend investigation findings, including providing well-documented reports
  • Assist with conflict resolution, including facilitating and/or mediating difficult escalated conversations
  • Provide critical input to influence and advance the skillful management of a wide range of ER issues across the organization
  • Interpret data to identify trends, providing insights and making recommendations to HR leadership
  • Partner with Learning & Development team to provide developmental training and coaching on ER techniques, corrective action and documentation, and performance management best practices to support continuous professional development and drive manager enablement
  • Work collaboratively with the Leaves and Accommodations Manager to support employees through the ADA Interactive Accommodation process, including the implementation and maintenance of said accommodations
  • Track key metrics related to employee turnover rates, retention, engagement, and ER cases
  • Support NWC’s injury and incident process through the management of workers’ compensation, including documentation, recordkeeping, OSHA reporting, and light-duty program, as well as engaging with the Safety Committee
  • Support unemployment claims company-wide, including leading claim contentions
  • Facilitate training as needed

Experience and Education

  • 5+ years of experience in human resources, including researching and resolving employee relations issues and managing highly sensitive and confidential information
  • 3 + years managing Employee Relations
  • Bachelor’s Degree in human resources or equivalent years of HR experience

  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state employment laws, regulations, and proven methodologies for conducting and documenting workplace investigations

  • Ability to effectively communicate, consult, and advise stakeholders across all levels of the organization, including the ability to propose complex solutions and explanations in writing
  • Leading and implementing ER system-wide programs in a complex, multi-site organization
  • Expert ability to resolve conflicts empathetically and diffuse ER issues and concerns
  • Experience providing guidance to employees, managers, and HR colleagues regarding policies, procedures, and programs as well as federal and state labor laws
  • Sound judgment and ability to problem solve in ambiguous or stressful situations
  • Compile, research, and analyze information and compose and present comprehensive reports
  • Ability to effectively communicate with team members from diverse backgrounds and with different styles of communication
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated patience, tact, and respect
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills paired with critical thinking
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Excitement to work collaboratively with other ER team members as well as partner with other members of the HR team on various projects
