Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Collaborative Physician for the Behavioral Health Service Line.
- Provide daily morning consultations (in-person and/or via tele-mental health) for adult ED and inpatient psychiatric needs.
- Supervise and guide behavioral health clinicians, including psychiatric NPs and LCSWs.
- Oversee and support individualized care plans for behavioral health patients.
- Evaluate the treatment plans created by the BH Staff for a range of psychiatric conditions including general psychiatric disorders, PTSD, substance use disorders, and more.
- Coordinate appropriate referrals for specialized or ongoing psychiatric care.
- Document all patient care using the Cerner EMR system in compliance with NGH standards and training.
- Participate in team meetings, provide case oversight, and support hospital behavioral health policy development.
- Collaborate with hospital leadership to ensure policy alignment, clinical best practices and compliance to regulatory standards.
- Support Graduate Medical Education (GME) initiatives and psychiatric education efforts as appropriate.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO from an accredited institution
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry (ABMS)
- Current and unrestricted Tennessee medical license
- Experience in psychotherapy and psychopharmacology
- Commitment to serving underserved and diverse populations
- Prior experience with EMR systems (Cerner preferred)
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Interest in medical education or training support (preferred but not required)
