Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Description
The successful candidate will provide outpatient psychiatric care in our clinic, conduct consultations for adult patients in the ED & inpatient medical units, & work closely with a multidisciplinary team—including physicians, LCSWs, & RNs—to ensure holistic, patient-centered care. Emphasizing the integration of mental & physical health, addressing substance use disorders, & supporting patients across the behavioral health spectrum, including forensic populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive physical and psychosocial evaluations to diagnose psychiatric and substance use disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including evidence-based medication management and therapeutic interventions.
- Provide psychotherapy sessions to support patients in managing and improving their mental health.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, nurses, and other clinical staff to deliver coordinated and compassionate care.
- Deliver psychiatric consultations for adult patients in the ED and inpatient medical units.
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, and strategies for long-term wellness.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record (Cerner preferred).

- Commitment to providing trauma-informed, culturally competent care.
Qualifications
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with active Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Tennessee.
- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification required.
- Minimum of 5 years’ healthcare experience, including 1–3 years in Behavioral Health.
- Experience providing direct care for adults with conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, chemical dependency, eating disorders, and other psychiatric diagnoses.
- Prior experience with EMR systems (Cerner strongly preferred).
- Direct experience working with underserved and culturally diverse populations.
