Nashville General Hospital is hiring a Full Time Day Shift Nurse Manager (RN). The Nurse Manager will have oversight for the following specialties: Women's Health, Rheumatology, Hematology/Oncology, Renal, Endocrinology, Neurology and Pulmonology. 
 
The Nurse Manager will provide direct management for the clinics and manage day-to-day operations. Duties include maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff, supervision of personnel, staffing, implementation of new and continued existing policies and procedures, adherence to TJC, HIPAA, PCMH, PCSP, performance improvement, and compliance policies. Assist staff and physicians with all areas of the practice and assist with training of existing staff and new staff. 
 
Nurse Manager Responsibilities:  
  • Provide daily supervision and operational leadership for nursing and clinical staff across assigned ambulatory clinics.
  • Collaborate with providers and practice managers to ensure optimal patient flow, safe clinical practices, and timely access to care.
  • Monitor staffing levels, schedules, and workload distribution to maintain efficiency and patient satisfaction.
  • Lead initiatives to improve quality metrics, patient safety, and patient engagement in alignment with organizational goals.
  • Ensure adherence to clinical policies, procedures, and evidence-based standards of care, with a strong focus on hematology/oncology best practices.
  • Oversee triage processes, infusion/chemotherapy safety protocols, pulmonary function testing workflows, and complex care coordination for oncology, pulmonology, and specialty patients.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff, providing guidance on patient care, documentation, and clinical decision-making.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory standards (Joint Commission, OSHA, HIPAA, NCQA/PCMH, etc.).
  • Partner with quality and safety teams to track and address adverse events, patient safety concerns, and infection prevention practices.
  • Actively participate in Commission on Cancer (CoC) initiatives, ensuring required reporting, documentation, and quality standards are met for accreditation.
  • Develop and evaluate quality improvement projects that enhance patient outcomes across specialty areas.
  • Promote certification and continuing education opportunities in specialty nursing (e.g., OCN, CCRN, CEN).
  • Act as a liaison between clinic staff, providers, patients, and leadership to ensure open communication and resolution of concerns.
  • Partner with interdisciplinary teams to support complex case management, care transitions, and patient education.
  • Support organizational initiatives such as patient experience improvement, HEDIS measure achievement, and population health management.
 
Required Skills & Qualifications:    
  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice required.
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or willingness to obtain within 12 months strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of progressive nursing experience in an ambulatory or acute care setting.
  • The majority of experience should be in hematology/oncology, including infusion/chemotherapy administration and oncology patient care management.
  • Experience with Commission on Cancer (CoC) standards, quality reporting, or program coordination preferred.
  • Prior leadership, charge nurse, or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong clinical knowledge in oncology, pulmonology, and specialty ambulatory care.
  • Demonstrated leadership, team-building, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and clinical information systems.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills.
