About the role
The Director, People Systems & Insights will oversee the strategy related to people technology and data insights. The role will manage, direct and administer the tools, systems and data ensuring alignment with the organization’s people systems and data strategy. You will oversee the configuration of systems, process optimization, and development of recurring and ad-hoc reports and dashboards linked to strategic priorities, metrics tracking, and decision making. You will also provide data insights and trends related to staffing, turnover, mobility, diversity, performance, and employee feedback. You will report to the VP, People Experience Enablement and partner frequently with the Talent Acquisition, IT, Finance, Talent and Organizational Development, Total Rewards, and People Service Center teams.

This is a hybrid remote role, offering a flexible work arrangement out of our Vienna, VA or Raleigh, NC office.

You Will

  • Lead a team of technical experts who are responsible for core data that impacts payroll; benefits administration; compensation management; employee feedback; and talent information across multiple HRIS and Talent Management tools.
  • Project manage major and minor system configuration changes, including stakeholder intakes, change control documentation, executive summaries, and prioritization.
  • Contribute to process design with business leaders that incorporate technology and automation.
  • Manage the strategy and roadmap for people data management, including the creation, delivery, and maintenance of simple reports to more complex dashboards using business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Develop deep understanding of our people data to produce metrics and insights that measure the quality of our people experiences and programs, offering recommendations to business leaders through trends and impact analysis.
  • Partner with department executives, leadership and other key personnel to align on overall deliverables and develop the long-term strategic direction and roadmap. Including supporting technical and data literacy across stakeholder groups.
  • Spearhead enhancements list, identify new capabilities, functionality, and process improvements for HRIS systems.
  • Oversee building and maintenance of technical integrations between internal and external systems, including APIs, file feeds, and direct connectors interfaces with external solutions providers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues and unexpected results or process flaws with urgency, including necessary communication to user groups about outages, issues, and resolutions.
  • Direct the development of user procedures and documentation of processes, and training for stakeholders and system users on processes and functionality.
  • Lead relationships with HRIS vendors in partnership with application business owners.
  • Ensure data integrity, governance, and security practices across people systems and analytics.
  • Lead a high performing team:
    • Set direction to ensure goals and objectives align with corporate and division strategy.
    • Oversee the coaching and development of key individuals who directly and indirectly report to you.
    • Establish performance goals and priorities.
    • Prepare and conduct performance reviews.
    • Provide input and/or prepare budget requirements.
    • Ensure efficiency of operations.

About You

  • Eight (8) years of experience working with cloud software and/or in a technology-focused role, with emphasis in Human Resources systems administration (e.g., Human Capital Management, Talent Management, etc.).
  • Significant experience researching information, building requirements, and analyzing information to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations, and plans of action.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Human Resource Management, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Five (5) years of experience leading and developing others.
  • Advanced analytical thinking skills include summarizing information and clearly identifying key elements, patterns, results and relationships.
  • Advanced skill to comprehend large complex talent datasets and translate data analytics into business insights.
  • Expert skill in Microsoft Excel for analysis and presentation of data, and with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI)
  • Advanced knowledge of data querying, reporting, forecasting, analysis, and operations research, including statistical methods and modeling
  • Expert skill communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Three (3) years of experience in project management, preferably related to HR systems implementation.
  • Proven success in working independently and the ability to anticipate stakeholder needs with some level of ambiguity.
  • Advanced customer service and collaboration skills.
  • Expert skill developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with all levels of leadership, staff and vendors.
