Job Summary:  

The Childcare Worker position is an on-call relief position providing supervision and activities to groups of children while caregivers participate in day and evening groups/classes offered by Morrison’s Infant & Early Childhood Program. This position is responsible for creating a nurturing and safe environment for children and providing structured age-appropriate activities for children age 2-8 and giving a positive group/class experience for families.  

Program: Early Childhood Consultation 

Child and Family Consultation is a service that screens children and consults with parents, early childhood care and education staff, and other providers about plans to support individual children. Program-Level Consultation supports early childhood care and education staff to build capacity to support children’s social and emotional skills. This includes providing staff training and development, regarding general early childhood social, emotional, and behavioral issues, and support for managing early behavioral challenges in preschool children. Program-Level Consultation also provides teacher assessments and coaching, using evidence-based models to build early care and education staff’s capacity to improve classroom practices. 

  

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for planning and providing structured recreation activities for children of various ages while their parents are attending parenting groups.
  • Maintains direct sight and sound supervision to ensure the safety of all children in childcare and reports any critical incidents to the Administrative and Childcare Coordinator.
  • Provides meal support for children.
  • Greets and interacts positively with group leaders and parents/caregivers.
  • Maintains regular communication with supervisor.
  • Supports Administrative and Childcare Coordinator with set-up and clean-up for groups and activities.
  • Participate in the practice and continuing implementation of the Sanctuary Model.
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure successful operation of program/department.

  

  

Education and Work Experience: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalency required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience working with children birth to 12 in a structured environment.
  • Works effectively as a team member.

  

Preferred Experience:  

  • Conversational Bilingual Spanish

  

Other Requirements:  

  • Pass a DHS criminal history background 
  • Hold a valid drivers’ license. Must be licensed in Oregon or Washington within 30 days of hire.
  • If driving personal vehicle, must maintain minimum auto insurance policy.



 

  

Starting Pay Range:  

  •  $16.12- $17.17 (non-bilingual)
  • $17.57 - $18.69 (bilingual / Spanish)
